I do think it has a somewhat unwarranted reputation for being cumbersome .It was designed for a role and from all accounts did that role very well .I think Charles Ewart is probably the most celebrated user of the 1796 Heavy Cavalry Sword .He used it very effectively to capture an eagle at Waterloo.

Otter Messer for me today, in dutch army issue belt pouch. I can't recall the model name. Victorinox included for size comparison. Great knife, not uk legal. Ideal for kitchen, garden, outdoors and general purpose. I have had it for a number of years now, strangely comfortable in use, considering its appearance.

Lovely thin knife, mostly gets left in the garage and has removed more piston seals than anything else but has found its way into my pocket today

Thanks, I’m pleased with it too. Quite light in the pocket, but a solid knife and the fit and finish are excellent.
