Hi all,
As the title, what distance do you zero at?
I'm very much a noob, and don't know if I should zero my scope depending on the length of the range I'm on. Or just zero at, let's say 20M, and then learn to hold over/under depending on target distance.

25 yards.
This means that any corrections for distance are "Hold over" i.e. centre of the reticle is above the target.

2 Mildots at 10 yards- ish for ratting when my scope is zeroed at 25 yards, for example

Of course, if you always shoot at the same distance targets then that is the range for which it is sensible to "zero."

I always do initial zero at 10 meters then slowly increase until I’m at my set zero range I then work my way back noting the mildots for different ranges

If you only Target shooting in your garden Ranger. Zero there . If pest control set at a Happy medium from furthest to nearest

25 yd for me, except my ratting gun where all shots are at 15-20 yards due to location.

35yds has been what I am used to and what I set all my scopes at mainly because I did a lot of FT back in 90's and the hold under/over for that set up for .177 has been reasonably well committed to my memory and if it's not broke I have no plan to fix it. I do use a variety of other zeroing distances on my electronic scope depending upon the location/situation/quarry I'm after but that scope also has LRF and ballistic profile options so I could just rely on that but sometimes a really close zero setting can be very useful for rapid ratting.

30 yards usually but aren't too fussy about it as long as it's at least 25 yards. 9/10 it'll be 27 or 30 yards although I used to regularly shoot at a place that set zero boards at 34 yards and that was fine too.

Its going to be different for every rifle, as they'll all have different scope heights, muzzle velocity and pellet weights

Treat yourself and download a ballistic app
Chairgun, Mero or the like

Are we speaking of hunting or paper punching ? If the prior, look up MPBR ( Maximum point blank range) use a zero that optimizes this, in concert with your pellet & muzzle velocity& scope height, rather than an arbitrary distance. If paper, zero to the distance you most often shoot at & use your dots or dial your turrets for all other distances.
