Spot on, FB in particular is full of experts falling over themselves to tell you they have crap triggers. Most haven’t even touched one!

To revisit this thread, the final outcome on the trigger was to get @deleted member to make a T- Bar conversion as discussed above. Hal made two for me and both to the high standard that we have come to expect with his work. This has made a massive difference and I can now move on and enjoy shooting the Walther. Using the Walther Metal Match trigger adapted with the T-Bar Conversion was the way to go for me and the safety catch works every time.

I had this T-bar installed in my LGU but took it out again as I couldn't turn the second stage grub screw when trigger housing is closed. Thus the final setup has to be done without any spring load while trigger shell is open - and even more complicated - the T-bar is out of the blade.
Annoying situation.
So took the bar out again and back to genuine tuning trigger blade with proper polished tips of the two grub screws.
Furthermore - the gain in trigger sensitiveness/release by the T-bar is miniscule and not worth the miss of beeing able to set up the trigger while regularly installed in the gun.

I found this not to be a major problem because I had set it up as I liked and not had a problem since fitting it. No need for further adjustment and it’s been in situ for 15 months.

I have a complete trigger unit with the 'T' bar mod'. Bought it to copy the safety link that was missing from an LGV Competition Ultra. Only holding on to it in the vain hope that an affordable 'project' LGV might come up . No luck so far so may have to put it up for sale.

Very interesting, not seen that T bar mod before, keep your eyes peeled there has been a couple of LGV on sales here recently at relatively good prices.

I have had my Walther LGU Master Pro in .177 for just over 2 years now. I have bonded with this rifle finding it extremely accurate as a bench gun. At my age it’s not one for me to shoot freehand because she is heavy. Unfortunately my LGU was one that had a plastic trigger and for a time I had to get used to a long creeping first stage but a crisp release albeit at nearly 3Ib break. This often caused the poi to change even when taking care and all other factors into account. Earlier this year I purchased a Rowan Engineering trigger and fitted this and there was an improvement to a degree however, it disengaged the safety. I was not happy using the gun without a safety catch, so it was back to the drawing board.

In the meantime, I stoned and polished the trigger sears being careful not to change the geometry of them. I finished the polish with a felt pad on my Dremel. I purchased some small shim washers for the three operating spindles within the trigger housing and fitted a lighter spring for the trigger release which is controlled by a grub screw. I started to research the Walther Metal Tuning Trigger. but could not find one anywhere, in desperation I put a post on this forum and within an hour Aston Shooter contacted me and suggested contacting Tony at Sandwell Field Sports. I emailed him and within a couple of hours he replied and said you can stop searching mate, i have about 20 of these in a box in the workshop. Call me on Monday and we will sort you out. This I duly did and Tony was a gentleman and all round nice guy. He popped one in the post.

Today, I had a spare 2 hours and set about setting up the metal tuning trigger. I set up the two adjustments screws to my liking and then reassembled the gun. I put 25 shots through her using the Wheeler Trigger gauge and was blown away with the result and now have a fully functioning safety catch. I bump tested it and all was good. The trigger is now exactly where I want it. Over the 25 shots it recorded an average of 12.6 oz. Brilliant and I think this has taken a wonderful gun to an even higher level.

I was lucky enough to get a new LGV March 26 and I love it, other than a bit of trigger polishing ( metal, two adj screws ) it is bril. Must be the best 'out of the box' springer out there. Unlike most HWs and Air arms, no spring twang because everything is right from the start. High quality gun. Frankly, I had to do a lot of work on my HW 95 to get it to shoot and sound anything like as good as the Walther.

The LGV/LGU are great rifles and I will not sell my master pro LGV.
I might try hand making a t-bar just for the hell of it lol.
Can anyone confirm the thread and pitch for the two adjustment grub screws on the metal trigger?
