Hello everyone.
Thought I'd share this as although Cometa has definitely got a growing fan base here in the UK one rifle always gets left in the dark. The humble 300. So I had an hour spare yesterday and I thought I'd scope up my little Cometa 300 carbine before the sun sank below the horizon and I proceed to freeze my nads off.

Waddled the target out to however far that was (not as far as it looks probably around 25-30 yards) and did some pellet testing just with the three tins I could nab quickly, FTT's, JSB Express and good ol' Superdomes. Most of the card looks like a shotgun blasted it as I group tested and zeroed on a single card however how's this for a budget springer with a still factory filthy barrel?

It settled on FTT's, two shots high of zero, then one shot low after adjusting. Nailed it in after that with 5 shots through an enlarged hole. I of course retired a champion after this as I'm destined to get a flyer to ruin it all. But I was well chuffed with that!

It's a pretty little beast in its USC form too and easy to shoot. The lock time is quick while the recoil is very very low. I haven't chrono tested this one yet but I'm confident that'll be high 10's low 11's. It does twang but it's far from intrusive. To me it feels as though it has less recoil than the Fenix USC but this is likely due to the slight increase in weight in comparison.
It's almost the perfect little working/hunting rifle but you are a potential victim to the trigger, it's definitely better than most budget offerings and usually is a proper two stage unit but it can be a heavy and creepy 2nd stage at times. The review rifle I had a couple of years ago was the same unit but was extremely good out of the box, this one has a bit of creep on 2nd.
That said Commie triggers usually polish themselves out just with use so before I have a look at the sears and trigger spring I'll put a few tins down it when I get time and see how it evolves. That said I've shot @32:1 's 300 after he's worked his magic on it and that thing is something else.
But how's that for a group with a budget gun?
