Its like restoring anything isnt it, you go as far as you want or dont want, my mate has an old webley a .177 i kind of slightly smaller vulcan with a metal at the rear hatsan style safety catch on it.I have a tx200 MK1 turning up that needs tlc, though it won't be to the standard of this BSA restoration.
I have found that pellets that sit high in the tap give significantly more muzzle energy than ones that drop to the bottom leaving lots of lost volume behind them. Also the tightness of the o ring piston seal will affect m.e. I fitted mine with a Diana seal in the end to see if it would have a nicer shot cycle and be more accurate. It wasn't any better than the nicely fitting o ring I had on it previously. I think 9.8 is a good start. Cheers MaxAveraging around 9.8 ft/lbs pre leading in (.177) Does that sound reasonable for a MK1 Airsporter S?
I'm always biased towards shooting smoothly rather than squeezing out that last ft/lbI have found that pellets that sit high in the tap give significantly more muzzle energy than ones that drop to the bottom leaving lots of lost volume behind them.
