Hi all,

Range Right have kindly sent me a Reximex Lieva in silver, in .177, as a review rifle, and I’ve just done an unboxing / first impressions video here:

I’ll be testing it out at Atheron Indoor Range next time I’m there and thought I’d tap into the forum brain before I start putting pellets through it properly.

For anyone interested, I’m going to.be looking at:
  • Grouping at 15 yards open sight maybe standing and 30 yards using a scope
  • Shot count and consistency across a full fill
  • How smooth / positive the lever action feels in real use
  • Magazine reliability and loading
  • Pellet fussy or not, and which brands it seems to like
  • Handling off a bench versus standing
What I’d like to know is if anyone already owns a Lieva, I’d also be interested in your thoughts: any quirks, issues, or things I should be aware of to test for?

Please can you any suggestions or questions below and I’ll try to build them into the testing and follow-up video.

Thanks in advance

Zubysan

I am surprised this has not got any attention on here, given it is pcp it looks like it could be fun over say 20 yards using open sights. Does it have a rifled barrel? As an owner of too many super accurate air rifles this could be good for a bit of fun in the back garden using bigger targets that I can hit easily with most of my collection to the point of boredom. Is the price £400 ish depending what version you want against it given the CO2 competition?

Its got a fair bit of attention, just the front page of Anything Airgun moves so quickly it's doesn't stay near the top very long.

It looks identical to the Lobo Mustang which has a 4 figure price tag .
I was intrigued and was contemplating this but not seen one in the flesh but cant help thinking its more of a back yard / fairground plinker .
I know a lot of people swear by these cheap Turkish rifles but I'm not convinced.
Things are usually cheap for a reason.
What will it be like in 5 years or so.
I could be completely wrong but it's just my opinion .

Right, I just need a horse now and I'm set..... shame I bloody hate horses 🤣

But what happened to the lobo mustang? Anyone ever own one?
My mate has one, I showed him my Lieva the other day and he was a touch annoyed as it's pretty much a direct copy but £600.00 cheaper than his..

A good fun gun, I put a scope on mine yesterday to test accuracy and it was shooting 5p sized groups at 35 yards with Barracuda 8, which is the only pellet I have tried through it

Red dot on it now for tin can bashing and it makes me smile as much as the Steyr Pro X I was shooting alongside it... proper old school airgun fun.

Seems very well built but who knows how long it will last... Personally for £380.00 for a regulated multi shot pcp if it lasts two or three years it's still great value..

Nice one @zogg364

Sounds like it's grouping better than I thought it would at 35 yards. Bet you had fun and it's certainly a great styled gun for tin bashing and just having fun 👍

Must admit I was a bit surprised at the accuracy, takes me right back to childhood fun knocking over cans in the garden with my old dad:)

I’ve got a following up video coming soon. I was trying to get hold of a Lobo mustang to do a comparison but only one place I know still sells them and they’re over £1k!

For what you get with the Lieva, it’s a BARGIN! Seriously the video doesn’t do the rifle justice; in the flesh it’s gorgeous, especially in Silver. Also give that stock an oil and it’ll be up there.

I can’t believe they’ve regulated it! I’ve paid more for less bang for your buck rifles which aren’t regulated.

Hopefully this is sign that manufacturers will put more premium features, as walnut stocks and regulators, as well as two mags as standard. I do feel ripped off when expensive makes provide only one mag, or lesser stock quality unless you’re prepared to pay more.

I only wish the Lieva came in a hardcase; oh well.

Anyways please keep an eye out for Part 2, coming soon :)

Hi Zuby,
I saw your part one,can I ask your thoughts on the trigger with regards to light sport rifle shooting as I like a nice trigger with a lightish 2nd stage as I find i get better results if you follow me.Think the silver looks better, that horse or whatever on the side seems to stand out less but its not a deal breaker.
Best John

Hi John,

Thanks for watching part one and for the message.

On the example I’ve got, the trigger has a medium-length take up and then it breaks pretty much as soon as you hit the “wall”, so it feels more like a long first stage that leads straight into the shot, rather than a very defined, heavy first stage and separate, long second stage.

It’s an adjustable single-action trigger, and out of the box I’d say it is on the lighter side of what you’d expect for a sporter. It is not a full match/target unit, but it is predictable and consistent, which is the main thing for light sport rifle. If you like a lightish second stage, I think you could get quite close to what you want with a bit of adjustment, but I’ve not started tweaking screws yet as I wanted to show it “as supplied” first.

I’ll spend more time on the trigger feel in part two once I’ve put more pellets through it and had a play with the adjustment, and I’ll try to comment on it specifically from a light sport rifle point of view.

I agree with you on the silver; in the flesh it tones down that horse logo a bit and it doesn’t jump out anywhere near as much.

Cheers,

Zuby

Hi Zub,
Thanks for that mate, you are a gentleman, you have explained that very nicely and I look forward to your part 2 and anything else you do in the future.
Ive a few different guns and I like to ring the changes with a few regular comps thrown in.I think Reximex are onto a winner there if they've done their homework.
From what you've shown so far it looks very promising, completely different from what's out there given you don't shoot fac.
A lot of the lads have the gallery rifle set up with the red dots where I shoot, ive been tempted to put a Henry or Marlin on mine but to be honest I prefer the air rifles so will be getting one ASAP.
Hopefully trigger will adjust nicely,be interesting when the parts diagrams start coming out to see how easy a trigger strip and sear polish will be.
Best John and thanks.
