Many people here heat their dwellings with electricity, both flats and houses alike.

About 3 million people live in urban areas here without access to own forests or at all permission to use emission stoves in cities and towns, thus being dependent upon electricity and the costs thereof.

Today my own bill arrived:

As seen the costs have arisen considerably, compared to last year, dispite not consuming a lot more kWh:

If we do the math I have an increased cost with 17% for an increase of consumption of just 6%

So, this months cost of electricity and heating reached a staggering 456 SEK, equal to £36.60!

The winter do takes its toll, this is more then twice the costs of a summer month..🙄

mine was £92 for electricity and £188 for gas.......our heating is gas fired.........Thats 3500 Krona

and thats for 14.5 Kw/H of electricity and 131Kw/H of gas

Everything is getting more and more expensive...

Just look at operating the car!

Petrol is now £1.2 a litre here and my car only provides 25 km per liter!

Road tax has now increased to £35/year, mandatory annual MOT is £40. Full coverage insurance is £34/month!

One can cut the latter in half by deduction of wildlife accident insurance part but that is highly risky due to the likelihood of running into a moose or wild boar at least one time each year...

The costs of energy is just ridiculous. . The expansive inflation began when Russia decided to invade Ukraine. Well, it was a good excuse, eh. . Homer face palm We can only hope the prices will come down again when peace breaks out..... but don't hold your breath.

The taxation on motoring is also oppressive. . . Presumably, it must cost a lot to install all those potholes. ;)

Doesn't they scrape the road often enough in the UK?

Most of our roads are well scraped, esp the faster ones ...

I wish my bills were that low. Don't forget they are set to go up even more soon to pay for the new electricity infrastructure. All for Nut Zero. Sickening.:cautious:

It's not all because of green energy targets.

It's about the last 35 years of under-investment because it makes more sense to pay shareholders than invest in infrastructure, just the same as the water industry.

The regulators lack the bottle to tell them to pay for their own infrastructure out of profits and not to raise customers bills to pay for it!

The UK rely heavily on electricity production through burning natural gas which we heavily import. Sweden generates mostly through renewables/nuclear and has a surplus of electricity, which it exports.

With sanctions on Russia sending the price of natural gas through the roof, as they are one of the biggest gas exporters.

And taking into account a huge percentage of homes in UK are heated by gas, hardly any in Sweden, and the UK has the worst insulated homes in Europe.

Then there can be no comparison, we aren't even in the game.

Im paying £0.2178 per Kw/H on a fixed rate until next August
and £0.0571 for Gas
No idea what gas costs me per kWh as I’m out in the sticks and buy propane by weight to fill a cistern. 500kg cost me £1240 a few months ago and should last me through to next autumn as I have the gas CH set pretty low and the gas oven & hobs use next to nothing. I have a wood burner in the living room which keeps things toasty warm of an evening.

Hmmm, just paid that bill.

$97.71 for gas and electric this month. About 10 cents per kWh, the electricity cost me $60.63 of the total bill. Usually, I don't actually read the bill, I just write a check but, looking at it now, there are a lot of minute extra charges and credits that seem to add up to a fraction of a cent. Weird.

According to AAA, the average nationwide price of a gallon of gasoline was $2.998 yesterday. In Reno I'm seeing $3.29. In Myrtle Beach, SC, where my family lives, it's $2.58. Reno has some very high gas prices. Well, high everything prices really.
