Hunting the pheasants dont mind

had a session on a feeder next to the main pheasant pen this morning' as the feed and peanut butter is still being going down. i know many keepers wont let you shoot around the pens when they put the birds in, which is a shame as theres no disturbance with the air rifle and feeder method.
all nice and settled here and they quickly learn that feed is knocked off the feeder when a squirrel is shot

sport has been steady rather than spectacular on this feeder, with todays 6 bringing the total to 70 here in 14 sessions this year, so not too shabby
over the last few weeks i've noticed a few of these young squirrels taking a nut off the feeder and going up the tree to eat it. good job they seem to get fed up after a few nuts and then sit nicely on the feeder, as i couldnt get a clear shot through the foliage

Never had a keeper bother with shooting in the pens. Many a time sat in amongst the young birds targeting a feeder higher on a tree, 30 yards away. Happy days! Used to love watching birds scurry around on the ground in their typical comical way. Feeder makes it safe as its nowhere near the ground, and a silenced rifle is not stressful at all. They make more noise than the rifle!!! Well done on the greys! Nice going there.
