The new Diana range, including the 48/54

It that a custom stock? Looks nice. How has the bluing held up?
The rifle is standard except the adjustable butt plate. The finish is parkerised and very hard wearing. The lump on the muzzle is a weight, not a mod. The stock is wood with a very durable black finish. There's a few minor marks on it, but no scratches down to bare wood.

I wont lie that pcp at the top actually looks like a thing of beauty.

First "NEW" pcp thats now actually got me wanting one...
I chatted to the rep on the Diana stand, really nice German guy.
The pcp at the top the picture, is really very nice, pretty long, but nice to handle and the trigger is fantastic.
The build quality looks to be very good and he assured me that they are made in Germany.
For a modern quality pcp, I thought the pricing was very competitive at £999.

Thats just sealed the deal for me then if they are actually making them themselves again rather than rebranding and upgrading chinese SMK rifles.

Are there any differences internally between the 48 & 54, or is it just a different stock?

Also, is there a true ABT system on them?

I have a Diana 48 and also the 54 air king the ABT is excellent on them probably the safest of all the rifles I have although I’d never trust any mechanism 100% always keep hold of the side lever they are great rifles.

Andy's done his review...

Of course, Vector Air are stocking it (for £650). I saw the gun at the show. Nice, but I think I'd rather have a TX200.

All Diana side and present underlever's have identical insides. The pistons, trigger units, and spring guides are all interchangeable. The difference between the recoiling and recoiless versions is the recioless version has a sledge that dampens any recoil and the stock is modified to accept it.
As to the ABT there are 5 clicks when the rifle is cocks. Each of those clicks is the ABT engaging with the piston being draw back under compression making 5 stages of safety and the safest ABT system there is.

The comb does look low but then it looks low on something like an HW99 and people seem to get on okay with those. I don't expect there is much of a custom market for new stocks but then I suppose you could buy the non-laminate version to save a bit of money and then have it modifed or go custom. That would put you into AA Ultimate Springer territory I suppose, price wise, if not more?
