Do we already have a thread dedicated to SAKs?

Here’s my most-loved Wenger Evo 52 (I think?) with damaged scales and a corkscrew driver sanded down to fit. Had this since 2011, I believe.

To me it’s nearly the perfect daily. 84mm, pliers and scissors, small nail file. If I could own another of these without the saw, it would be the perfect SAK - scissors and pliers, no bulk. Alas not a configuration available.

Shown next to the overtly large and rarely carried Swiss Champ that’s missing the magnifier since new.

I have had a new SAK arrive this week. After being disappointed with the quality of a Climber out the box, I returned and paid extra for a Mountaineer. Unfortunately still feels a bit big, but will try to carry as a daily.

Cant remember the model name of the other one . Traveller possibly .

EDIT.

The broken one is this .

Don't think the saw is meant to go that way.

Had it since the 90s. It's going back to get fixed but it's discontinued now so I hope they still have parts.

HS Walsh watch knife, with blade and case opener. This is my second, after the first was stolen in Germany. I believe my first one didn’t have the Walsh name on it.

still have the one somewhere i got issued in norway quite basic but green handle was told the back edge was thicker to use with the firemaker (not issued ) think i just it in the bergen and saw it as extra weight

My SAK was showing the years of use and abuse so I sent it to the UK agents of Victorinox for some TLC. It took quite a while to return but the level of service was exemplary, every part which showed the slightest sign of wear was replaced. What I received back from them was in effect a brand new knife. The price for this? Around £9 including P&P back to me.

I’m thinking to send the Swiss Champ, and ask for only the magnifier to be replaced. As much as I should send the Wenger, I have real fear they’ll just send a new one back.

Any links about getting a refurbishment? My Wenger is about 30 years old, still sharp as you want but the scales are looking well worn. Obviously there's no sales receipt.

my two
top one Huntsman / Fieldmaster I found on the river bank about 15 years ago, lived in my tackle box ever since.
Bottom a Spartan?
Had that for over 35 years, was my EDC for 20 or so,
Couldn't get a satisfactory edge on it until I ground the blades.. cut myself earlier just opening it up for the picture- didn't feel a thing 🙄

My first SAK - a Wenger bought from Argos when I used to work away regularly

From my last job and more a bedside drawer queen these days - but does get taken on holidays.

Oh and almost forgot a Swiss card in the car...

I'd like a Swiss Champ, but to be honest the Ranger has most of the tools I need and is a more sensible size.

But if someone has an unused one sitting in a draw they don't use - drop me a line...🤦‍♂️
