Springer Dilemma

Open sights are addictive, I'd never done them before with an air rifle so like you're contemplating I got myself a HW77

It's great fun, and much more satisfying getting good groups with no glass

I can't see myself ever sticking a scope on the 77, I've got other rifles for that, if you fancy open sight shooting go for it :)

I find the prosport very front heavy. The 77 and 97 are basically the same rifle... ish. I would start at that point personally. Although my HW35 is just perfect with iron sights. Regarding the 77 , you can scope them if needed. You have a very big playground to enjoy my friend. I have literally just lost my fear of break barrels. Underlever was my only choice personally. The prosport is not my choice of an iron sight kinda rifle. Some would disagree. If you are set on weihrauch as a choice then for me would be the 77 or 35 (even though it's ugly)

Decision made, about to order a 77 Laminate from either Wolfman or Range and County. woohoo!!!!
I also have the laminate and its a beaut, last I checked Range and Country still had the full length in stock too, I'd recommend that for open sights as you get a longer radius :)

isn’t the longer barrel more hold sensitive as pellet taking a bit longer to leave the barrel or am i mistaken?

Theoretically, Absolutely, yet in practice not so much .
The thing is with Any springer all the commotion that's going on once you let that spring out the stable its a bit of a lottery how its going to impact your accuracy, its gun gun set up gun fit gun weight trigger and other stuff and down the list some place is barrel length.
No matter what you got tuned stock worn out or brand new, Practice Practice and Practice some more. You might not see the theories real or imagined impact your performance half as much as imagined. reality is a great leveller i supose a safe sumary is "Not nessasarily."

If I had the open sights for my 77k, I might shoot it. It's mint and it was free, because the cocking link tips had snapped off. The fellow who gave it to me couldn't remember what happened to the sights. Opens would be the only reason I'd ever shoot a 77. I don't like the looks, or the operation.

This. Plus, the ProSport's cocking lever will turn your boxers into tight little pink panties and ruin your hands.

Men (real manly men men) shoot Weihrauchs. The name Weihrauch even sounds macho. Air Arms sounds exactly like what it is... Fairy arms, as in little weedy feeble arms. Be a man. Be a Weihrauch man.
Here we go again

Every time there's a post that mentions the ProSport the "real manly men men" pipe up. I don't like the lever on the ProSport, it's too hard to cock, it hurts your hands, it's not very ergonomic, it's got sharp bits" 😭....

In truth it's the real "real manly men men" that shoot ProSports and the rest of you roadmen shoot anything else that's easy to cock, doesn't make your little weedy feeble armies hurt and isn't hurty on those delicate little piano fingers.

Power to the ProSport shooters the real "real manly men men" πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The unfinished lever on the Pro Sport really is a shit idea though, my one years ago was pretty sharp

Manly men or whatever aside that is an objectively poor design choice

As I have said elsewhere, it's not perfectly ergonomic, but it really isn't that bad!

As for the cocking effort, it's less than my HW80!

I agree, just having a bit of fun. For such an aesthetically pleasing and well put together rifle the lever should have been designed better. It's still a keeper for me despite this though. (y)

Good Post "Power to the pro sport shooters, " the fat ugly Airsporter clone .
Gripe about Pro sports all you like compared to the TX200 mark 2s and 3s they are a different league altogether.
Pro sport vs TX200 , Prosport may be an ancient mark 1 TX200 if you realy must but why bother just get a HW 77/97 get the job done in one. .

Good picture, could someone point out any sharp bits. Everything is rounded, on the part you grab. Compared to the Pro Sport, the HW offerings are closer to an SMK B-3.🀣

I got the last 77K laminate special .177 from R&C the other day, for that primary purpose of open sites... love em but also ordered a front tunnel site and currently searching for a nice friendly priced rear diopter....
No glass will EVER donn it πŸ˜‰
Lovely stock with decent cheek piece (keeping it cool looking but not too high) and if you want can add small risers for opens, lovely price with enough head room to tune it to the way I want it, not the way someone else wanted it with a high price tag....
Get a TBT kit discounted on here and lube properly, polish the piston and you have a piece as smooth as a PS...
The 77k has a few more inches on the barrel than a 97...
But I found a 77 easier to cock than a PS whilst maintaining a prone position...
Pick up rifle, grip firmly, stand back and feel manly πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
Ps the 77s are better balanced than the AAs....and doesn't look like you're trying to give your mate a 'reach around' whilst, loading it..πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

'77 all day long, the PS is just a complete PITA to operate.
Well that was my conclusion, i knew it before i bought mine. I Alus thought they were horrible, but i was swayed by the 11+ Ftlb TX200 Mark 2 being ever so less snappy to shoot than the 11+ ftlbs HW97.177 of my mates.
He ended up crying enough and anounced the TX200mark 2 was up for grabs Β£350 with a Hawke AMX on it in BKL mounts.+3000 JSB RS .177s i bought it hook line and sinker.
It got no better i thought it would eventualy seem less irritating to use, well a month latter i was if anyrhing more fed up with the stupid thing. and it was sold i bought a HW97KT off here i got three HW97s now in the first 3 cals only need a .25 and i got a full set.
Incredible Spring powered air rifles so easy to shoot accurately even in stock form where i tend to like them best with just a trigger job. Folks Like the TX200s but the price they cost new is too much and even the second hand ones are not worth the asking prices not for me anyway.

Well, just going ahead and ordering a 77 in Laminate from Wolfman, be interesting to see how I get on with the cheek piece as a lot of people say its too high, if thats the case I will have to look at rising options (if anyone has links to products even better) This rifle will never see a scope so want to get it right, looking at adding a diopter for the rear sights and front tunnel sight, ref tunnel sight - is it a simple case so easily removing the blade and fitting the tunnel sight.... oh so many questions lol
