So- who's gonna splash out on the iPhone 17?

I bought an Iphone 14 from a car boot sale early this year.
The girl selling it looked dumb.
She showed my it, said it has a cracked screen, but I noticed it wasn't,... just the protective screen, also she said it didn't charge from the charge port.
Had reasonable battery charge on it, I made sure it was not account locked and got her to wipe it (used my SIM for connection) as it turned out it was the same network.
As it would charge inductively...I thought, what the hell, take a punt...she is either genuinely dim or a bloody good actress, hiding a major fault, perhaps!
The charge port was full of fluff and all it needed was a clean, the screen was intact and as a bonus it was not network locked...which she didn't know!
I paid £25 for it....she wanted £50 initially.
Sold it three days later on face-book...for £300. The chap said he is sending it to his family in Uganda
Result (y)
Great result. Now, the Ugandan recipient will use it to scam your granny! 😂😂

I do love the apple range
I phone 15 pro here .. bought it new when it came out .. brilliant little thing and up to date hardware ….
Il replace the battery when needed with apple and will buy another new iphone when this one isn’t supported anymore .. (7 or 8 years maybe)
can’t be doing with the pro max phones they are just to big .

My ancient Galaxy 5 already has a sh*t ton of stuff on it I will never use, so I will not be getting another one unless this fails somehow. In the unlikely event that I do get another phone, then I wouldn't want any iBling at any price......

Apple are no more technologically advanced than any other of the leading consumer electronics companies, they're just very good at convincing the gullible that they are !
In fact, if you look their record they've had quite a few notable failures - phones that bent because they made them so slim they were structurally weak, and others that had to be held awkwardly or they couldn't receive a signal - and then blamed the customers.
Their products are made in China, probably in the same factories that produce phones with similar specifications for competing brands who sell them at half the price or less, so where do Apple get their prices from ?
When I see someone with an Apple phone I know I'm looking at a fashion victim.

Got mine when they came out. I was due an upgrade and it cost less than the one Im on now, so I got it. Transfer is great, and no problems- well, one with work software which means I cant actually get into anything I need, but that the same with any phone due to the way the software works.

Dont really give a flying if people like them or not, it works fo rme. Gave my old one ot my mum as shes got an andfroid and loathes it. Shes found th eiphome easier, but I still need to teach her things for it, and she is in love with Siri :)

Apple are taking the pi## with there pricing! I have had iPhones for years but enough is enough! I am due to get another soon but not at those prices!

When I see someone with an Apple phone I know I'm looking at a fashion victim.
That saysa lot more about you than an apple owner!
Trust me, fashion is not somethin gi care about at all. I have an iphone because the GUI works for me, it does what I want, and its small enough to keep in a pocket. If you like android, not an issue for me, and I prefer that others dont worry themsrelves over what phone I have. It doesnt bother me, but sweeping generalisations just show a lack of personal thought.

I'm holding off on any investments in tech at the moment
Waiting to see if the digital I.D thing goes through. If it does I will be going back to a Nokia 3310 and the smartphone will be getting a hammer through it.
This 100%..... don't see how they can force Digital anything on anyone if you don't own a smartphone or a pc?
Old Nokia 3310 anyone?

Love my iPad, get on well with my Mac Book, happy to receive my wife’s cast-off iPhones, currently an iPhone 11 I think. Probably send and receive 1 call a month.

I prefer an iphone as all the rest of the family have one and I'm just used to the system. But I wouldn't buy new or pay silly £. We both had an 8 that we've each had for about 5 years and I then bought her a 14 from CEX in July. I was going to get a 14 pro for myself but I heard that they don't have as good battery life so I just got the standard 14 from a private seller pretty cheap.
Tbh there isn't a great deal of difference from 14-16. Now I've got 3 old iphones to move on, although I might keep one as a spare.

I’m an Apple person period. Its UI is simple and sleek. Then again an Android user would say the same too. My work phone is a Samsung S22 ultra and tbh I don’t like using it as I’m used to Apple. That argument aside is £1k too much for a phone, of course it is, but it’s all relative. Rollback 15 years the cost of any SIM free phone back then was also very high. This has always been the case. Today’s prices are a reflection of our economic environment. This is why companies offer a range of models to suit budgets.

I’ve been a Pro Max user for a long time and prefer the bigger screen. Currently have a 15 pro max. Will I upgrade to a 17 pro max? Nope not at the £2k price. I can’t see a benefit, besides the tech jump for me doesn’t justify it. The 18 though is seemingly touted as being a big tech change and I’ll likely wait. Besides I’m due for a 3yr work phone change so that will be a 17 model.

Don’t get me started on cars though. I’m a petrol head 😂.

I’m on a 15 pro due for contract upgrade/change in December. It’s probably only used at 20 % of is capability. For me Apple products just work and with little for no FAF, will I go for a 17 pro? That depends on the deals offered by the providers but I won’t be switching to android as the continued software support and battery replacement option keeps Apple in the game for me.

i have a 15 or 20 year old nokia, pay as you go, battery lasts 10 days or more, and £20 lasts a year.
the wife on the other hand spends all day with a smartphone in her hand, trying to out wit it.

I will probably buy another when they do something better than the iPhone 12 I’ve got.

My daughters both have 16s and TBH, I just can’t tell the difference…..

That folding Samsung is nearly £2k! Absolute madness. Think of the gun you can buy with that? 😂👍😂

I've been running a 15 Pro Max since it came out (fancied a change from Android)... I'm really happy with it but there's no way I'm upgrading to the new one. I don't see the point.

This'll do me for another few years and then I'll see what's available. 🙂

If you can afford it and enjoy the progression in tech, why not? All about choice.
Same as air rifles 👍, I did find it funny that a few have said “oh, not me, would never spend that on a phone” but would probably spend £1500 plus on a pcp, scope, pump set up.
if the same was applied to the rifle scenario then we’d all be shooting £100 guns, but we don’t.😆😆😆.
Horses for courses, I personally can’t get on with google phones and much prefer an I phone but I certainly wouldn’t pay that much for a phone let alone a gun.😉…….dom

My co worker always has i phones. Every day he's charging it up, low batery etc etc. I dont charge my Samsung every day, no where near. I cant belive people pay this much and many people just use a handful of apps, and social media and the camera.
