So- who's gonna splash out on the iPhone 17?

I haven't even got an iPhone 1. . .

My one is something bought new from Ebay for fifty quid a few years ago. . . It might be a "dinosaur" but it seems to work perfectly for what I need.

I'll be sticking with £200ish Motorolas. Looked at Apple stuff back in the early 90s n wasn't impressed.

I am an Apple fan boi, but I am keeping my 15 Pro. The battery is not great but when the time comes it can be replaced for £90 direct with Apple.

The 17 really doesn't grab me by the balls and doesn't contain any improvements I want or need.

I upgraded from a 12 to a 16 and the difference was incremental. Camera a slight improvement and the satellite connectivity could literally be a lifesaver and avoid me having to buy something like a Garmin Inreach for my outdoor adventures.

I know of two families who are in deep debts, but have to have the latest Iphone (I refuse to use i)
It's a sad reflection of the "have to have" society. One of the people I'm referring to whined on about being unable to cancel his contract. Unwilling is more realistic.

I'm the same with my 14 Pro Max, still works seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem I love, Apple support old hardware with updates for yonks compared to Android (still really rate Android).

I do like iPhones, but agree the costs are getting wild. I have a pro max 14 which I bought for the better battery, screen size, camera upgrades from my last one, which was three years old at the time, this one has just turned 3 now, but there is nothing of any significant value in the new ones which would get me to swap it our, perhaps next year or the year after that, but these are so good now there is little point in getting the pro version with the standard one being so good, so I think my next one is probably going to be an iPhone 19 maxShrug tt

Not me that’s for sure, and certainly not whilst my IPhone 5 still allows me to call and text folk and lights area up with its neat torch function. 😀

As soon as it eventually dies I’ll probably seek out a 6 - because you know, you have to upgrade to stay fashionable ‘n that.

I didn't buy an iPhone 1-16, so probably not!

I was impressed up to the point they got WiFi & 3g with proper video & browsing etc.

All the 'improvement' since then has been largely marketing ********.

I bought an Iphone 14 from a car boot sale early this year.
The girl selling it looked dumb.
She showed my it, said it has a cracked screen, but I noticed it wasn't,... just the protective screen, also she said it didn't charge from the charge port.
Had reasonable battery charge on it, I made sure it was not account locked and got her to wipe it (used my SIM for connection) as it turned out it was the same network.
As it would charge inductively...I thought, what the hell, take a punt...she is either genuinely dim or a bloody good actress, hiding a major fault, perhaps!
The charge port was full of fluff and all it needed was a clean, the screen was intact and as a bonus it was not network locked...which she didn't know!
I paid £25 for it....she wanted £50 initially.
Sold it three days later on face-book...for £300. The chap said he is sending it to his family in Uganda
