Slim fast HW100T

I got the Dr bob adaptor thing for 165 pound and a carbon bottle from an r10 for 100 pound of FB.
The Dr bob and the bottle weigh a total of 829 grams. The standard bottle is 856 grams so very small saving.
I think I need to get that valve bit out of the end of the bottle though which probably weighs a bit. Plus I save another little 56 grams from the barrel support, front action to stock mounting screw and valve filling bung.

Not sure where I can get a tool to drain the air out though 🤔

I think it will be a good weight saving once I figure out how to get the air and then valve out of that bottle without shooting it through something.
Plus points for bringing more of the weight of the bottle bits nearer to the center of the rifle instead of the front too if it is front heavy like people say?

So I can't get hold of a degassing tool for the bsa r10 bottle so I have ordered a quick fill adaptor for it and I will try making one from that somehow.

Do you know what thread the bottle is, is it M14 by any chance (std small bottle size apparently) ?

The bottle neck is m18x1.5mm thread. I don't know what the outside male thread on the regulator is though.

Finally got the air out. I ended up putting a small screw behind a quick fill adaptor and very slowly tightening it onto the valve. That's a much better weight loss without the valve in the bottle.
It takes the original cylinder at 856grams down to 620grams for the carbon bottle and adaptor now.

Standard cylinder weighs about 980 grams a rat works one is half that so there's a big saving straight away .

My standard cylinder weighs 856 grams.
I did look at that ratworks one and they do a standard rifle one at a claimed 520grams with a 172cc capacity.
With the carbon bottle setup I have, it has worked out 100grams heavier than the ratworks claimed weight, but I get 3 times the capacity.

Now that the buddy bottle setup is mocked up into position I can take some weight out of the stock.
I have got myself a duplicate walnut thumb hole stock which weighs 1544 grams at the minute.
This is NOT going to be pretty. It is going to be very. VERY ugly. But it will be lighter and I always have the original stock and cylinder in my spares box if I can't stand the sight of it.
For the faint of heart please avert your eyes while I butcher this beautiful piece of walnut. RIP.

I think I didn't zero my scales. I might get some better scales to be fair and double check all the weights at the end, these scales are naff.
The stock is actually about 1050 grams. I have taken 100 grams off by removing the rubber on the back of the stock.
I think I am going to wrap this in that camo tape when the time comes. It might take the edge off a bit.
I'm going to start drilling and cutting now. Wish me luck

I think most of the weight saving on the stock will be skeletonising the butt area. It's a big solid bit so I drilled these holes.
Now it's time for everyone's favourite game, dot to dot.
I like the little bit of meat above the thumbhole to pick the rifle up with so I'm leaving that little nugget.

Down from 1200 grams down to 669 grams so far now I've joined the dots. Waiting for wood rasp from fleabay before I can rough that shape out nicely.

That handle is a solid piece though. I think I will try drill that out from underneath and take a little weight from there while I wait for my rasps.
