Shotguns v’s Drones…

I was at a clay shoot where, in the field next door, they were flying model aeroplanes. One pilot decided it would be great fun to wizz around in the sky distracting the shooters from the targets. It worked for a while, until someone shot it down.

Hi pal that's a interesting video. My pal who owns a lake and some land shot one down with his shot gun. Scum bags are using drones to look for quad bike's and machinery to steal.
Before anybody thinks it's a good idea to shoot down a drone apart from criminal damage you might find that some very interesting CAA legislation that also comes into play (they are classed as an aircraft)

Yes that's the rules but if someone is using a drone in order to steal and case out a farm etc there not exactly playing by the rules are they.

I've been in a wood, at first light, and a drone has gone directly overhead, towards the farm buildings.
I alerted the landowner, as they had thefts before, but nobody knew who was controlling it.
I didn't see the return trip (or maybe that was the return) but either way, with the time of day and location, I could not think of a good legal reason to be inspecting the buildings, that early in the morning. There is an A road close by, with some parking areas, it would be trivial to park up and get a drone going towards multiple homes and businesses in the available range.
There should be an app, where I can point it towards the drone and it draws the flightpath on google earth, I'm pretty certain that one came from the layby.

Agreed mate, not shooting down for fun though.
Oh no that's definitely not acceptable. There was a spate of drones flying over farms etc then machinery stolen. One quad which was stolen, you would have never known where it was unless it was spotted by a drone .Another drone crashed on private property if it was innocent the owner would have asked permission to get it back ,but it was just left there

Hi pal yeah definitely up to no good imo

There should be laws introduced to make it illegal for drones to fly over private land not designated for it, farms are a good example of this, when the drone is clearly potentially in the middle of acres of private land the farmer should be allowed to destroy it, just like the laws for a stray dog.

Time to design a goalkeeper CIWS specifically for drones and stationary platforms. Make it cheap though and the 3km range really isn't needed; a smaller caliber would be fine. I've seen how quick these things are in real life. Impressive.

That's the dumbest thing ever, and highly illegal by shooting at the aircraft.

Got to wonder what mastermind planned that😅

A drone in a responsible and legal pair of hands is of no concern to anyone, just as a gun in a responsible and legal pair of hands isn't.
You can't shoot a drone down. It's as simple as that, regardless of whether it's over your property or not. There is heavy punishment for anyone who does shoot a drone down, possibly imprisonment.
As with guns, most drone flyers are responsible. It's those that act irresponsibly that ruin it for everyone.

Interesting that the drones in the video had inert RPG warheads on them too. Having experimented with Mk7 mines on a range, 7.62x51mm doesn’t have the KE to initiate TNT but if you hit the fuse it normally will.
