Sash Clamp

What’s the best sized sash clamp, that will work for most springers please?
36" works fine...do yourself a favor - buy a quick pin for cocking link & take off barrel - no need to put undue stress on a barrel - just put compression tube into clamp ( unless of course you own a lever cocker)...

As above comments 👍 I Got a 36” one from Screwfix years ago - can then make improvised “attachments”. Versatile in its uses!

i got this one from screwfix , works a treat

Personally I wouldn’t want to clamp on the barrel either - though tubes are strong and airgun spring pressure is probably not likely to cause too many problems. I modified a Clark motorbike suspension spring clamp, and as alluded to above you can make various support/end blocks quite easily, from (in my case) hardwood. For fixed-barrels, the block I’d use would have a hole drilled through so the gun is clamped via the ‘shoulders’ and not putting pressure on the barrel itself.

I'm into woodworking as well and have a few styles of clamps. Most pertinent to this ask would be the two in the picture. The pipe clamp is adjustable to any length you can find the gas pipe in, very useful and stable feet as well. 👍

A clamping method with a block with a hole through it to allow the barrel to be pushed through so the barrel doesnt have to be taken off if you are worried about pressure on the barrel. As mentioned on a previous post i adapt my old Black and Decker workmate and bolt on a longish length of 4x2 to one "jaw" of the table to which i can clamp a block with hole in for the barrel to pass through. To the other "jaw" i bolt a wood block for the rear part of the action where the spring is going to exit. G clamps could also be used to secure the wooden blocks to the workmates jaws.
The two screw handles on the workmate then allow controlled ease of the tension or the opposite if putting the spring back in.
I also put a webbing strap around the middle of the action as a belt and braces method to stop it all flying out.
Sorry no pictures as its all apart until needed again.
