Reximex Pretensis .177 rebuild or scrap?

I have the chance to obtain a very cheap Reximex Pretensis PCP .177 and there is obviously a reason as to why it’s cheap!!
Basically, the shots are like a spatter gun on low or high power settings and it’s only producing a maximum of 3 lb/ft on the Chrono (around 2 on low setting and at best 3 on high setting).
1) Is it worth trying to save?
2) What could be the cause of such low output?
3) Would it be a relatively easy fix?
4) Anyone else ever come across a similar problem?
The rifle has been stood for some time unused and with charge, as far as I can hear/feel it’s not externally leaking any air but does give off an almighty crack when fired?

Every rifle is worth trying to save in my book.

Basically strip it and check everything is clean, clear and functioning as it should with no obvious signs of an issue.

I don't know if they have a reg or an after market reg but that could be playing up.

I'd also check for crown burrs or indeed burrs anywhere.

First thing I'd look at is a split o ring dangling in transfer port.

These rifles are very easy to work on. I’ve had mine apart to fit a Huma reg, which obviously required full disassembly along with tweaks to the hammer spring and TP to keep things legal post-reg.

If you’ve any experience with working on PCPs I’d give it a go, it’s a simple thing and parts are readily available when you find what’s wrong!

I’ve got no idea about PCP’s……The one thing that’s putting me off is the mention of these “anti-tamper” grub screws that snap and have to be drilled out?
I would like to save it but trying to get as much information as I can to start
