Retro games consoles

Got a Jamma cocktail table but prefer uprights. Just waiting for my Batocera PC to arrive so I can add 2 RS3 Reaper lightguns to the modded Arcade 1Up Star Wars cab...

I bought a raspberry pi 400 on here. Hoping I can put retro games on the big screen.

We had a zx spectrum 48k in the beginning.
The Pi is perfect for that. I built a mini arcade machine with one years ago with thousands of games running perfectly.

Been doing some retro gaming lately. Whilst I do have original systems, I have been enjoying the convenience of modern remakes. I have the C64 Maxi, The Spectrum, A400 and an Atari VCS Flashback. I always struggled with having a screen that I was happy with. Always wanted something portable but reasonably priced. I recently got a portable monitor with built in speakers from Amazon for £50. Absolute game changer. I can now play the old systems in bed or on the couch whilst the Mrs watches the big tv.

Looking for decent condition Amstrad CPC if anyone knows of one for sale (don’t need the monitor). Prices are bonkers on eBay for rough looking examples.

what kind of prices do the c64 go for? Iv got the newer shape one with the delightful cassette player, hundreds of tapes, a few cartridges, a special art package and dedicated commodore mouse, probably much more i can't remember ... NOT A SALES PITCH just curious

I really used to enjoy games like Medal Of Honor on the Sony PSP, but the PSP died some years ago, then my son told me about how good emulators are, so I got myself a Pocket Retroid 5 and the old MOH and MOH2 run superbly, along with games I used to play on PS1 like V-Rally, Crash Bandicoot and others 🙂

Depends on condition and if boxed but a very rough ballpark figure would be £100-£150. Also depends on the games.

My old C64, along with some atari consoles, sega mega drive, original ps and Xbox all went to the dump, a good few years back, probably all worth more than they were new now, told my mrs I should have kept them for another decade 🤣

Well if it makes you feel any better in the mid 90s my ex gave away my Ford Capri 2.8i while I was away at a car show with my mates. She wanted it out of the back yard so she could hang the washing out.

Hindsight what a wonderful thing, many moons ago I was into fast fords, cut up and scrapped many a MK1 or 2 escort normally 2 doors, even a Mexico and rs2000 brought for next to nothing for some parts. I see how much a rough one goes for now,😭 even back lights are fortunes many went in the bin.

Ive got a ps3 wirh retro arch.
Tbh i dont rate it as much as the old xbox i had with coinops on it.

I have an XBox Original modded running Coinops. (y) You are correct - for an old lump it does perform really well. Fast start up and runs games brilliantly. It's very stable (never crashes) and has a great selection of emulators. Although it has fewer games I much prefer it to the Raspberry Pi4 build I have. To be honest number of games is a bad yardstick for comparison anyway as once you get past the 500 to 1,000 mark you're generally into repetition or crap anyway. I put a new board in one of my uprights recently and it has over 10,000 games on it but I have a favourites list of under 100 selected from this.

I'm a big fan of playing retro games on more modern machines, particularly the ones that can be jail-broken. Was running stuff on the PS Vita (lovely screen) and a SNES mini (very easy to add roms), but more recently picked up an XBox 360 now that they can be opened up with AbadAvatar on USB stick. Given that the units seem to be going for around £25, it's a great time to be gaming.

Looks great that. I've been tempted a few times by one if these handhelds.

ah its staying in the loft 😂
There were so many C64s sold and for the most part they are very robust.
I have a C64c too. I don’t use it but there is no point selling it. There was a time when the SID chip was worth as much as a fully working machine. Crazy.
