Want to start re-loading for my Sect 1 Mossberg Maverick but don’t know where to start.

As a bare minimum what do I need and any recommendations for shops.

None of the European suppliers seem interested in sending anything here.

Thanks for that - I have come across buckandslug in the past but he looks like he’s ceased trading.

Clay and Game should be a good shout for components and load data. Ballistic Products also do great manuals, but be aware not all the powders they list are obtainable here. Also, beware of the Lee 1oz slug mould - it’s nothing like as stable in flight as the 7/8Oz one.

Henry krank , clay and game , as already said some powders are scarce , Lee loadall will get you started

I cheat! I bought a svarog mould and a whole bunch of cheap steel carts. I made a tool to cut out the crimp, empty out the shot and pop the slug on top. They are a nice friction fit and I’ve shot hundreds through it this way. I will add it is quite common practice here😬
Edit: I found a video of them, they do work quite well

Not sure how long your falling plate range will last, looking at the amount of concrete dust being produced… 😝

I acquired a load of slugs some years ago. There were Brenneke with the plastic wad screwed on the rear and the others were like a dome - not Foster - and smooth no grooves. I bought a roll crimp at an arms fair and started making the two types. The Brenneke required the plastic wad to be completely removed from the cartridge but the others I simply emptied the lead shot and replaced with the smooth slug. I used 28g Power Blue cartridges.
I also had some commercial Geco and Sellier&Bellot. Grouping at 50 yards there was no discernible difference between any of them but at 100yards the factory slugs grouped tighter, about 4-5" rather than 7-8" for the home made.
My mate uses the same method now and has similar results even though his reloading is sloppier than mine was lol.

For shorter ranges I was talking to a guy at the weekend who now uses wax slugs!

Taofledermaus did an interesting video on these

Be very careful shooting wax --there is a bloke in the USA shows you how wax can build up and burst you barrel --also do a search on you tube for the lost art of cut shell's --dates back to the US civil war not something i would want to try to be honest --Be very careful

I was waiting for someone to mention this, I value my fingers though so not something I would try either.

Yes seen the cut shells thing before- again not something I’d personally want to be near. As far as I’m concerned, a shotgun is designed on the basis the case will stay in the gun…
