Back in the very dark ages, (ok the 1960s) my farm Forman got his new pump action to take on the combine. I don’t remember how many cartridges it took but I seem to remember it was quit a few. When did the 3 shot rule come in?

1988- i believe it was brought in after the shootings in Hungerford in 1987.
Rick😜

As Above 1988, I had a Mossberg 500 slug gun with 10 shot capacity before this time and sold it before the law changed, I also had a savage bolt action magazine fed shotgun and the Mag had to be welded in and proof stamped

In the 80's I had the 24" all black version (imported by Bill Parr's gun shop in Belper), but mine only held 8 shells, 7 in the tube and 1 up the spout.
It was almost identical to this stock photo, but with the addition of open rifle sights.

Bill Parr's, that brings back memories. I used to like calling in there. It's some sort of grocery shop now but of course there's Belper Tackle down the bottom road but it's not like the old market place shop that Bill had.

An old boy I knew years ago has a Browning Auto 5 in 16g, lovely thing but it too had to be crimped as he didn't have an fac.
Probably the only gun I'd buy in 16g just to see what the calibre is like, but as 99.99% of my shotgunning is clays it'd be expensive to feed.

Yep about 1988 in the aftermath of The Hungerford shootings…
I had a Winchester Ranger 6 shot (5+1) but luckily I just transferred it to my firearms cert …. Killed its second hand value though 😏
