Petrol prices starting to rocket, Filled up monday expecting fuel problems, Had already gone up by 1p, today its gone up a further 8p a Ltr?, a friend who works their says they've not had a new delivery just ordered to boost prices.

Stocking up before a price increase will lead to shortages and even more increases. The independent retailers need to cover their overheads during time of shortage, and take a hit on margins when wholesale prices fall and they have existing stock to sell.

The economists will tell you It's price elasticity of supply and demand.

The government aren't interested, if the price goes up 5p then that's an extra 1p in VAT so 6p total increase.

Kerosene has gone from 50p per litre at the beginning of Feb to over £1 today.
