Just bought an adapter to fit a silencer, taken the old fitting off (two pins in a vice) and shroud off, the new fitting fits however the barrel rotates with no obvious means of restraining it. Is it meant to? and assuming it is what's the technique for tightening the adapter? Thanks in advance to anyone who has experience of this pistol.

Some people do drill and tap one if they fit a longer barrel or ditch the shroud. Some models have a grub screw under the front sight depending on year

As you tighten the adaptor it should hold the barrel tight
The barrel will spin without it
If the barrel rotates then it's not fitted properly , it screws into the block so turn it clockwise until it stops then fit the shroud

You just need to hold the receiver at the breech end in place with friction from a finger tip whilst you screw the barrel into it. (Get it as tight as you can until the force of you twisting the barrel overpowers the friction of your finger holding the breech receiver)

At that point the whole thing (receiver and barrel) will still spin but they should spin together as one piece.

Then fit the shroud and hand tighten the silencer adapter, still holding/applying pressure to the breech receiver with your finger. As it tightens the whole lot should pull together and negate the need for you to apply friction to the breech receiver any longer.

Then you can tighten the silencer adapter fully with the appropriate tool depending on what type you have.

Don't over-do it, it doesn't need or benefit from being crazy tight, just enough to hold it in place firmly.

Nope it just spins, plus it's all the way into / through the housing and seals correctly.
Rubbish , it's got an M8x1 thread on the breech end and it's not for decoration , it screws into the block !IMG_20230531_161520.jpg

Thanks for that. I wonder why it just rotates freely? On the pistol that is from what part does that screw into please? Mine is a PP700W and the barrel freely rotates relative to the rest of the pistol when the shroud isn't present. I wasn't expecting that hence the post. ( By the way I have it operational so no mad panic but now just curious why opinions, appear to differ? 🍿)

If you need to stop it rotating whilst doing the shroud, poke a sharpned, wooden pencil down the pellet end.

I'm sorted thanks, I could get it tight, was just surprised it was spinning ( and opinions differed😊) thanks everyone for the help.
Is there a plastic insert at the breech end on yours ? The one I turned a barrel for recently was all aluminium with the thread in the block

Yes there's a separate part. With the shroud off I can spin the barrel both directions, in one direction the barrel unscrews, in the other direction once fully home the part starts to rotate ( but the breech seal doesn't. Just the bit inboard of it) .

One with barrel, one without.. Now I've looked at these that o-ring looks, a bit suspect!
