I don't know if this question has been asked before but l cant find any information on what l want to know , there are different mounting rail systems my own are dovetail mounting , but l would like to know is it possible to get a picatinny rail to fit onto a dovetail rail so that l can then mount any of my scope (s) using picatinny mounts without the bother of establishing eye relief all over again if you understand what l mean

Not the best picture but this does show how the Eaglevision picatinny rail sits on a dovetail rail.

Thanks lads that's exactly the information l was looking for the pictures were especially helpful

I haven't the need to be concerned but I would expect the picatinny rail to have a place for an affester pin.

At least the scope won't move on the rail.

It would be good if it did, but only a small grub screw (which is not aligned with the arrestor holes, it's to the side) which will straight away put a mark on top of the comp tube, and a good chance it will still creep putting a nice big scratch all down it.

I tried one on my 95k done up as tight as the tiny grub screws allow. Within 20 shots it was hanging off the back of the rail by an inch. It left no damage because there was no way I was going to tighten a grubscrew down onto the comp tube. I bought some sportsmatch dovetail rings instead.

I’ve just added a picatinny rail to my fx Drs. So much better than the dovetail rail. It just slides over the dovetail rail. You can also get them with a decline angle built in which will give you longer range for your scope (ie your scope will point down a little meaning the distance where you run out of elevation adjustment will be further away than it was before fitting it).

Mine has 30moa built in.

Ran close/far and night on the same rifle, close and far with normal adapter worked. Needed rear overhang for old style NV at night and possibly new digital to get zero relief.

Picatinny is far easier to change multiple scopes on the same rifle, you just need quality rings and a system where you remember which slots you use to mount various scopes. Always on zero.

I use small coloured sticky dots to mark the scopes and rails. 2 guns at the moment with 3 scopes and a 4th on the way.
