I shoot a 22 cal pcp. Does pellet weight really matter in a pcp long as they are accurate in the rifle. I have pellets in 13.66 gr and 14plus and 15 plus in weight. Are any of these weights good for squirrel hunting thef ar jsb exact Rs
Thanks

There was a very good thread on here recently by @Dr B on this subject - he might reply and post a link. I tried to find it again but no joy. It’s a really good read.

Anything you hit ' em with, in the proper place, will do just fine...whatever is most accurate - use it.👍👍

Go with the most accurate, shot placement is far more important than pellet type.

I didnt know if most guys went for the heavier range of pellets or the lite end of the scale.
Accuracy is the deciding point though.
I certainly agree.

Personally I like heavy magnum types in 177, but in 22 I like them fairly light
Between 12-14 grains - I like the 22 to be travelling fairly fast
That's great Pete 1963 my pellets are 13.64 gr and accurate. Thanks Tinbum my pellets are very accurate too.

Have a good look on the thread in the hunting section about shot placement on squirrels.
There is a bit of a miff about them being really tough.
It’s because a lot of people don’t know the proper shot placement.
A well shot squirrel should go down very quickly.

Pellets are a lot like rifle bullets, while accuracy is # 1, tailor your pellet, like a bullet, in regards to it's B.C. / weight/ penetration/ & terminal performance for distances shot over... Look to dump as much energy as you can IN the critter, not in the dirt behind it... A lighter wadcutter may fill requirements better than a "long range" high B.C. pellet of the domed variety.

I totally agree - power without accuracy is useless.
For me, pellet testing for accuracy is one of the most important exercises I go thru when using a new rifle.
Pellet penetration etc is useless without accuracy - hit them in the right place and its lights out ;)

Pretty much as above. The most accurate pellet is the one for the job, regardless of weight or calibre

I think I've shot more squirrels with .177 7.9g in the last 14 years, than I have in the preceeding 25, with varying weight .22
None have really been better than the other, just my preference now for a small light fast projectile
