PCP compressor

The compressor is £220 - then factor in more money (say £70 to £100) for filtration and setup.....I have heard the ting a lings need a lot of filtration - I have two on my Omega and the air doesn't cause (or hasn't to date) problems when filling.

My Yong Heng is pretty clean re oil into the filter There is just a touch seen on the filter input. You know that the dry air requirement is to prevent dive bottle corrosion and possible icing of the valves in use. It's nothing to do with what the diver breathes in (The oil being an exception of course!), which is in fact already stupendously dry compared with normal air.
The OP needs to read the compressor threads.
Indeed, divers tend to 'dry out' as a result of diving. The output point is relative to the fill time though, if you're doing short fills eg a direct to gun top up, your filtration requirements will be a lot different to filling a 7ltr from empty and a Yong Heng's output is genuinely a lot different to a Tuxing or Hills for example.

What is the difference between this one

and this one

The price...

I have a 'Creworks' one: it is a Yong Heng. Fills a 5 l bottle no problem but does need good filtration - tampon and desiccant filters.

What compressor do you think would be suitable to fill a 3L bottle to say 260bar ish? thanks m
I used this compressor on my 3 litre tank to take it from 0 to 300 bar just fine.

I've got pretty much the same compressor..
Been using it for the last couple of years to fill my 7ltr dive bottles,
Never had a problem with it.

I generally fill from 200 bar back up to 275 bar and it takes about 20 minutes.

When it blows up, I'll buy another one, it's paid for itself already👍

You will need some extra filtration though

If going for a Yong Heng, make sure that you read the instructions .
Especially regarding replacing the sealed "transit" oil cap, with the "breather" cap supplied. This is very important.
Not doing so has caused blow ups/ injuries in the past.
There are some quite graphic pics on here .

Not in the instructions-
The 240v feed to the water pump, is a male, live,"plug",and can be touched by fingers-attach the pump before connecting the unit to the mains, then leave it in place.

I use the £150 unit in the pics, with improvements to cooling(domestic 240v fan),and output air quality( a cooled water trap, and larger filter.)
It is used it for topping up a 7l bottle from 200 to 300bar, and I am quite pleased with the performance so far.
Touch wood.

In ZX6's pic above, there is what looks like a filter on the window sill, to the left of the hammer head.
Whether that is a filter or not, that is nearer the size of the filter I use.
Mounted after/downstream of a similar sized water trap.
I don't know how to post links, but I can put a pic of my set up if required.(y)
There are some pics in my previous compressor posts.
Also,on my set up,I use the whips with the spiral wound, wire, anti burst/anti kink covering, everywhere.
Again,as shown in the pic above.(y)

@JohnnyD Similar.
I think the one in the pic above has an end cap removed?

After looking again,I think that the one above is smaller than mine.
Pic of mine below.
I paid £42.88 for mine off the bay back in 2023.(where the hell did those 2 years go?)
I had a quick look in my purchase history, but the seller seems to have gone.
Other sellers might have them?

OK I have ordered one of the blue ones recommended on here...........

Is this filter OK?

Or can someone recommend a better one?
I use one like that (about £7 on aliex) and one like the below with desiccant
I just found this on AliExpress:
£21.70 | PCP Pressure Refill Separator Diving Separator Oil Water Separator Air Compressor Filter Air Pump

Well its arrived and seems to work O, waiting for the bigger filter before I use it in earnest, is the easiest way to top up a tank by using a male - male foster connector ? Is the guage on the compressor going to be accurate? I also have one on the hose to the tank, but again its Chinese

Depends on the tank valve, I use a male to make on my BF bottle and my Chinese bottle has a male fitting on the valve that the female whip fits to, but I’ve only seen that on the Chinese valves.

I've got an inexpensive Vevor that seems to work with my AA S510. I have 2 x in-line "tampon" filters fitted but I have no idea if moisture is getting into my gun. I have to admit that all this talk of pressures and filters and oil and running temperatures and fill pressures and moisture and test certificates and maintenance is making springers look very attractive. PCP's and their associated paraphernalia really are a complicated, expensive faff. There I've said it! I'll sit back and eat my popcorn :)
