Seen as though I'm going down this rabbit hole I'm looking into getting a few bits to help with making sure I can put the most accurate data I can into my ballistic app (strelok pro).

I definitely need a wind meter, Foxtales (top guy) kindly sent me a one he used to use but unfortunately it was damaged in the post.

I've been looking at the kestrel 1000 and have seen a used one for £50 which I would be happy with as I just want to be able to read the wind speed.

Would a cheaper £20 generic wind meter give me a as accurate reading as the Kestrel 1000?

I cant afford anything flash at the moment bit just need something to get me out of the starting blocks and away

Down the line I will definitely pick up some LRF binos as I'm currently using a hawke 400 LRF which is ok but it would be nice to have something nicer and something that could range out to 1000yrds, not that I would be shooting out that far but nice to have, I would probably be looking at a used pair of binos and be looking to spend around £300-400 but have no idea what to look out for so would like some recommendations.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated 👍

Would one of these be any good to you ?
I’ve had it a good 5-6 yrs but everything works as it should. Couple of battle scars but she’s go to go.

What scope are you going to use ?
I've got a 4-20 X 50 sigtron STAC and a Arken EPL4 to play with, will probably run the Arken on the .223 and the sightron on the .243

Cheers mate that's good to know regarding the anemometer.
thats a canny little LRF in the link, better than my hawke as it only goes to 400yrds and it sometimes struggles with anything past 360yrds
Save the anemometer money - it'll give wind @ your location, a cheap wind flag will do the same job ( speed & relative direction)..note angle of flag in degrees & divide angle by 4 = wind speed. Note vegetation movement down range & use Beaufort.👍
Yeah I'm schooled on reading wind at the firing point and down range ect, like the idea of the flag but seems a faff on when I could just put a wind meter up and depending on how strong the breeze was be naturally able to determine its direction, a flag would be good but I'd just have some cotton thread on the mod cover to gauge light breeze direction.

Will look up Beaufort that's new to me👍

I use these for long range target spotting but you do need a short, stable tripod.

Binos... 7x -8x, good glass, again, magnification is somewhat overated...be able to have a wide view & enough resolution to see " antler glint" in low light... keep sun to your back, yet see stuff in periphery quickly... You can then figure " angle of attack" to stalk up properly.

Second hand Vortex Viper HD in either 8 or 10x42 flavour will never let your down. Punch well above their weight. If you want new, the Diamondback HD are also good. Lifetime warranty on both from Vortex

Range finding Binoculars, I struggled with this one I was looking at the vortex range finding binoculars which were around £1500 and I decided to go for hic hadbroks and I haven’t looked back, they a blinking brilliant 👌
