Guys loads of threads on the beautiful stocks, blinged out accessories, beautiful set ups etc.

So let's see the work horse, field guns, the ain't pretty but just works guns, tatty old cherish ones.

I've only one of these the qb78 it's a cheap n cheerful but scratches the garden plinkng itch and not precious at all on it. Happy lean against the fence/wall etc without delicately placing it down each time.

Yes the entire set up is less than most of my scopes but it is a good bit of fun.

Let's see your not so presentable guns 20240427_134652.jpg

My MK1 HW80 .22 in FAC is my field gun.
It was pretty much brown rather than blue finish wise but a good offer of a blacking with out polishing was accepted. It's still pitted in areas but I don't care as its my field gun. Stock had a simple refurb and it's dented again .

Hanna - her .22 99 goodness has seen some days afield, her blue worn off in spots, her Leupy gone plum in places - as they do in sunshine...her stock, relieved of Han's factory lacquer, took a strip & oil. But, by golly, she brings home the proverbial bacon.👍

When I want a short range hammer, Hatsan Edge .25 cal making 18fpe in a Webley Spector stock:

Got a few others not so pretty, but these are the ones that get grabbed for the grubby duty.

I really rate the Turk Webley's they are definitely built to last, all I have done to this .22 version is grease the spring to kill the twang and fill the hollow stock with an old t shirt.
I kept giving up on the open sights but with practice and getting in close it is a great no fuss rifle to take to the farm and it's had some right soakings lately.

Great thread. Unfortunately I don’t have a field gun or daily working gun (wish I did have use for one) I only get to the range or the garden but great to see them all.

This is my daily hw97k. AKA 97'R'. R stands for Rough. I have 4xhw97k and this is my daily workhorse that I leave lying around to be called upon at a moment's notice.

The other 3 are a bit shy and are 'Closet Queens' - very well tuned and very prim that only comes out when the sun is shining.

This 97'R' is doing a sterling job. I don't know what abuse it had before it started living with me but I prize it for it's deadly accurate .20 barrel. It handles well and shoots wonderfully too so what more can I ask when the icing is that it shoots in my favourite 'general use' .20 calibre.
