I hear a lot of comments about heavily reduced rabbit population in certain areas , my theory is the affordable price of nightvision and thermal scopes & spotters ? What’s your views on this ???

I can't see shooting as being the primary stress on the rabbit.

It is an interesting question, perhaps public areas, non shooting estates and private houses would be the indicator.
If they disappear where they can be shot, but not (to any great degree) where they cannot, then shooting would make sense.
But haemorrhagic fever and myxomatosis don't respect fences.

Thinking about it, rats too, theoretically rats should have been widely decimated by NV and thermal, but there are many times more un-shot areas, than shot.

Another good point , reason I say this was we gained a new permission and previous lad shooting it was getting between 10-20 a trip , he uses a red lamp on sub 12ft lb , I assisted him last week and we shot well over 60 in a few hours ! Might sound excessive but there is literally thousands there and doing a lot of damage to the paddocks , he made a comment that they are not running off with my DNT THERMNIGHT,
