New Revere scoping problems

Based on the shroud removal being the influencing factor, I’d bet you a beer that it is the barrel band causing you a headache. Potentially try some shots with it off, then on with no tension on the grub screws, then tighten them up incrementally.

Looking at the barrel band I could see daylight all around it, and a straight edge showed the shroud was about 0.5mm out of alighnment towards the end. I was going to put the regal shroud on but could not get the barrel band off

I forgot I shot it with the shroud on and no silencer, but after 5 different silencers that work on all my other guns, I took it that the shroud was causing the wild clipping.

Sorry to hear its not working for you. Is it the one with the lovely walnut stock (or safari) that was in the sales section?

Yes bit of a dissapointment, been waiting for Walnut like that for a long time. I shall try and remove the shroud off my Regal and see if it is a cure. Not what you expect on a new to me gun. We'll get there, slowly eliminate things, one thing for sure it's not a scope problem.
When I first looked at it, putting the mod on it, I thought that looks crooked. No I'm imagining it. Perhaps not.
I often go round straightening pictures out, and as for rear number plates...........

Thanks for all the useful information So. The recoil screw is out, even though I had used it on the Regal, there is no hole on the Revere. And yes the the turret was turned the right way, and can a 177 pellet reach 200m. That was my 223 setup range :sneaky: Anyway the rings on the Regal setup are fractionaly higher, so that fitted ok minus the recoil screw.
So today with the rain, I set up in the garage, managed 8ft on the ES 4-16x42 off the Regal, target was a bit blurry but good enough to see the gun was shooting up to 5" high and like a shotgun, so it was clipping, tried several mods and all much the same. So removed the shroud and 2" low and shots through the same hole, which I think sounds about right so close. With a long silencer on the shroud, it was clearly pointing upwards, and a straight edge confirmed it. So back to the seller
Pic. 8ft range, View attachment 854680three shots on the lower 2" low three on the upper 3" high hardly surprising I could not find any holes at 20m
A sub 12 .22 or .177 will group at a 100m and indeed reach out to 200m weather permitting, but hitting targets consistently at 200m absolutely not.

I did try to remove my shroud off my Regal, and it was solidly stuck, at which point I managed to split my finger on something, possibly one of the grub screws, and with blood everywhere I gave up.
Well unfortunately the rifle is on it's way back. If you shot it without the silencer it was good, but with a silencer on, the shroud appeared to be pushing the silencer into the pellet path and clipping. Shame because that walnut was beautiful :(
I suppose a new shroud is not that expensive, perhaps I should have hung on to it, but there you go.

Gutted for you. I looked at that exact stock and nearly jumped in myself, it looked beautiful 🥲

I would take the scope off and put a straight edge along the top of the action and down the shroud as I feel something must be off.

5 different silencers all showed signs of cliping all have 7mm exit hole. The Donny had a piece taken out.

The mod adapter into the shroud is a weak point on the Huntsman; after I'd slipped in the dark a couple of times mine was way out of line. I made a jig to align it properly and then epoxied it into place. Now my mods are "over-barrel" so there are two bearing locations to keep them central, never had any trouble since.

First 10 group was with a Blade? Baby Fat Boy mod (Guy on here made them).
Second 10 group was with a Daystate Odb.
There were signs of lead clipping on the "tuning fork" which was not seated correctly and the Tuning fork O ring was out of place.
As @bill57 says the "over barrel" or "Reflex mods" are a good idea. Unfortunately I don't have any spare for the Revere they are on my Ranger, AirWolf and Pulsar.

The "Tuning fork" sits around the barrel end and centralizes the barrel within the shroud. On the Revere/Regal It has 3 components, The fork, an O ring around it and a another O ring that sits infront of it against the rear of the thread protector. When these are seated correctly the shround should "float" within the barrel band and produce a slight rattle when the shroud (Containing the barrel) is nudged. This is the correct fitting.....Contrary to what many folk think.
The DS CF reflex sliencer (Over the shround) screws into the front thread as per any other type of mod but the thread is recessed within the body of the mod so the mod is infact covering a couple of inches of the shround and is sealed with a O ring around the shroud. The Mk5 and MK6 were the last of them before DS moved on to the "0dB" series
As @bill57 flags-up this gives much greater stability to the mod as it has 2 points of contact with the shroud. The threads and the O ring around the shroud. It also reduces the overall length. Hal a former member (Now left the forum) used to make a very good "Reflex" clone type mod that is sadly no longer available from Carbon Fibre.

But that is only dependent on the shroud being in the correct position, It make the silencer more secure but it is dependent on the shroud being positioned correctly. Hals reflex mod is my fourth picture. And I checked that the shroud had space all around it under the barrel mount.

As a footnote to this saga:

This Revere has now been checked-over by a DS trained tech and tested...and then tested again by me with two different scopes and mounts and is 100%. I'll be re-listing it in the sales section when time allows. Most likely after Christmas as that's getting close now. (y)
