I haven't posted in a while due to not having my first bought rifle which is a new HW98 set up properly. I made the mistake of buying a delta stryker 1-6 when I am trying to shoot paper at 25 meters and you can hit the target no issue but you can't shoot pellet on pellet, you just can't see clearly on full zoom. So that's my first lesson.

So then on the hunt for a new scope and I bought a maven rs5 4-24x50 which I absolutely love. With all the bad buys and waste of money, this purchase along makes me feel better about it all. I bought the MIL reticle which I actually wanted the MOA but was sold out. But now I have the MIL I think I have the best one.

The maven is 10/10 to me and it makes me respect the delta because there isn't much in it, when comparing glass and for the price of the delta it's a big bargain.

I also recently bought the Audere dovetail scope mount which looks very nice but I cant fit it yet because I am waiting for my wheelers alignment kit to come from rifleman firearms and so far the service is so poor. Order it last Thursday, got a call on Monday asking what size I want. I chose this when ordering on the site but anyway. Friday tomorrow and still no delivery and never received an email for the order but I always take a screenshot.

I bought a 'March' power throw lever for the maven but it doesn't fit. No dimensions were available on there site but for a noob like me it looked very big in the picture but came small. March returns policy shows me there true colours, not a company I would normally buy from. For the price its almost pointless returning with the shopping costs. So another waste.

I bought the 50mm swarovski scope lens covers which also don't fit, someone tell me how the heck a 50mm scope covers doesn't fit my 50mm maven scope lens? I'm a bit I'd about this purchase.

I have the maven scope cover looks like a mini scope blanket but I like the bikini style covers.

So I still need a throw lever and a better scope cover, I'm almost about to buy it from maven website but it is such a rip off, with shipping about £200 for a throw lever and the aadrant scope cover. Any recommendations?

I almost nearly bought the trijion tenmile with green dot as I do love green dot but the America site couldn't deliver to me which you all probably know already but I found out the hard way. They even replied to my emails yes they have it in stock and can ship internationally and told me to hurry up and buy as it was the last one in stock and then it blocked the purchase in the basket. This is some of my laughable experiences entering the shooting sport.
The America prices with shipping are so cheap it showed me a trijicon tenmile which worked out with shipping from the US was about £690 on sale and the UK sites sells it for £1300. We are getting ripped off over in the UK. you can buy the plane ticket and bring it back yourself.

So many items are out of stock, as a new person trying to buy some good quality items. Im so happy with my scope because from what I can see, it seems like they make a new scope every several years it is not an active market and I dislike so many reticles I had to pay for a maven. I was planning to spend that much but I said pick the reticle you like the most with max 10m parallax. The floating dot in the maven I adore it more than I expected. It's daylight bright with ease and the reticle and glass look so sharp and 24 zoom is great, I can even see a reason to go maybe 30 even 40 zoom if I was shooting 40-50m

So many people told me I need less zoom but I don't think they realised what I was shooting at and my shooting goals of trying to be pellet on pellet some days for fun as well as just random target hitting, I need a scope which can mix it up and I defo believe having a bit more zoom than you need it better so you are never in the max and can have a better eyebox/eye relief which is a top criteria for me also.

I also bought a gun vise which is great, think it is Axminster, rotates 360 and vacuum seals to the table.

I have nearly everything I want apart from a new stock which will also come after a little while of shooting, probably get a craftsman vic.

Last thing I bought the EDgun silencer called behemoth, it is pretty big, I actually bought it to replace my Weinreich XL silencer because I thought that was too big, so when the behemoth came I was shocked and not happy at all but then after 30 mins I put it on the HW98 and it looks great, made it look more impactfull and I fell in love with it.

Once these dam Wheeler alignments come I can set up the new scope with the new rings and get back to shooting a lot more and posting more as I will have something better to say than ranting about buying things in this industry, it feels as crooked as my other favorite sport boxing. Why can't I like chess.

The Maven RS5 MIL reticle,
The swarovski 50mm scope covers not fitting my scope,
The Behemoth silencer looking beastly,
The delta stryker (pic doesn't do it justice)
My burris rings

£1,406.57 For the scope?
I paid under 1k with shipping, in the black Friday sale from the maven site. It was the last one and I'm shocked how easy these companies sell out. A lot for a backyard shooter but a lifetime warranty helps and I will truly keep it for nearly a lifetime so that's not too expensive and I think I got a good price at the time in the market. Probably someone out there saying I got mine in 1997 for £9.50 but inflation and reputation seems to have a big presence in scope prices.

I completely fail to understand most of this post!

You cannot shoot "pellet on pellet" at 25 yards with a 6 x magnification scope?
What size groups are you getting?
It is not essential to see each pellet strike - plenty of people can get tiny, tiny groups at 25 yards and more with iron sights!
(Not me admittedly - but I am not a good shot, just a wobbly old git.)

Most of the rest of it sounds like shopping list and / or frustration with suppliers for complicated stuff which is alien to me.

This is a "Long Range Rifle scope" - does it focus as close as 25 yards?
Not to mention a price of over $2,000!

Surely anything called a "Behemoth" is going to be damn big?

"something that is extremely large and often extremely powerful:"

Not meant as criticism really - but may I suggest an alternative approach?
Get a basic 10 or 12 x mag Hawke or similar scope, fit it onto your HW98 and zero it?
At worst you might need to upgrade your mounts.
Oh, and waste some time and money testing different pellets which you have not yet mentioned.

Your money and time so your choice - absolutely!
Just seems unnecessarily expensive, complicated and frustrating to my way of thinking.

Good luck with whatver you decide.

Since you obviously enjoy losing money , please send me £50 :) . HOLLY

PS the only time i have lost money was buying new rifles and scopes , when i came to sell em .:(

ANT Supplies do scope caps by od size. Your doing well, we all make mistakes on the way and hopefully they don’t reoccur too often.
Thanks I will check out that site.

Thanks for reading that novel, I spend a lot of time researching before buying, watching video, reading reviews and forums but still I get it wrong but the lessons learnt a valuable and it will be much harder to make these mistakes again. I prefer to post how cool.my new purchase is and how well it works and if it improved my shooting in anyway.

If you can see your pellets hit a dot at 25 meters with 6x zoom and repeatedly hit the same dot, you either have a way better scope glass than me or great eyes because I can't see the dot. I like 16-20x for me.
I don't want tiny tiny groups I want pellet hitting the other pellets backside, 100% accurate not 97%, that's the aim and that's the fun in some shooting sessions. I also want to see every pellet strike, I want to see the action. You can't tell me what I need, you don't know me or my eyes. I bought a scope I can developer into and won't outgrow.

It is a rant about how poor the customer service, the stock availability and pricing, has been in me early experiences in the sport.

I have more fun shooting without even pressing the trigger just because the reticle is so nice and puts a smile on my face as it makes shooting the target even easier to shoot and the sharpness just makes the whole experience more enjoyable. I would never buy a Hawke scope unless as a gift to someone else.

Think you may need to have your eyesight checked

So you never had the pleasure of learning from your mistakes. Well with all your perfect decision making you should be super rich, did you type this message from your lambo or yacht.

Think you may need to have your eyesight checked
You hitting dots back to back at 25m on 6x zoom with a small .177 and you can see the bullet land everytime and be pin point accurate?

I can make a small group with ease, I dont know if you get it when I say pellet hitting pellet accurate and if you do understand I want to see video proof, if you are that good a shooter.

buying new was my mistake , you cannot recoup all of that money . where if you bought wisely secondhand you could get your money back if you decided to sell later HOLLY

PS no the Lambo is off the road , only the Roller left . :)
