Hi, I bought this pellet box recently for 10 euros, 1/3 full, I don't know much about it but thought it might be nice to keep with my .22 BSA Improved Model D.
Does someone know approximately when these were made?
Cheers, Louis

It’s a little difficult to tell with Marksman pellets, as their box designs have changed very little over the years. I suspect it may be 1950s or 1960s. If you have access to a UV light, see if the box ‘glows’ under it. It will probably glow, but if not then it’s from before 1950 (when paper whiteners started being used). I’m sure there’s some Marksmen specialists on here who can be more accurate with a date.

I think I am correct in saying that Marksman/Lincoln Jeffries are the only pellet manufacturers left in the UK.
Very sad but I think you're right.

I'm not sure if Milbro branded pellets are still made in the U.K. or are now imported?

I saw a great (plastic) round pack branded 'Milbro Fairground Pellets' at Protek last week but they were in .22! No idea if they are made here or imported.

Used to buy them as a lad and or Bulldog I think and some pointed things, cheapest I could get.
Knew nothing of pellets/barrels back then.

I think LJ Cammell (Merseyside) are still going. They made pellets for Webley in the 70s & 80s, and I think still make for the likes of David Nickerson (though most of theirs is Italian these days).

That's interesting! I read about that company in Bruce's Webley pistols book.

PS.....just checked.....and yes, it does look like they are still making pellets there!

One of my favourite pellets, purely for nostalgia, is/was the Webley Flying Scot, as that was what my dad used (could get from the local gun shop in Tewkesbury at the time) for use in his Omega. They made them. Consequently I buy up the odd tin when they come around on an auction site. Not the best quality, but the twin-rings concept had me hooked from an early age…

The Milbro branded pellets look to me like they have come from H&N. No bad thing though. I have used them successfully in an HW45.
