Made a donation by card but got it confirmed by PayPal !?

As above. I just made a donation and used my debit card (not PayPal). I got an email confirmation from the forum BUT also got a PayPal confirmation email.
So I logged on to PayPal and checked my recent transactions and there was nothing there recently and certainly not for the amount I'd donated.
Can anyone clarify what's going on?

Probably using PayPal as the payment processor, so the forum owners don't need the aggravation of all the hoops to jump through, and security implications, by doing it themselves.

As you have used your debit card, the bank statement will prob list it as a payment with a PayPal reference number.

I was reminded of this when checking my CC transactions and nearly spat my coffee as it showed a multiple hundred purchase via PayPal, (I don't have a valid PayPal account).
I bought a camera, forgot the payment was handled by Paypal (who I won't authenticate with).
It was all above board, but for an unpleasant minute there, I thought something had been hacked.
