Done some searching and found it's a common problem, but so far the fixes I have tried don't work, annoying because I upgraded other PCs and a really low spec one which works perfectly yet my wife older HP laptop refuses to play ball, so any ideas?

So far deleting and reinstalling drivers works for the first restart and then back to not working, been through all the latest updates in the hope there was a fix, have downloaded some drivers from HP but also not worked, it seems to be a case of it reverts the drivers to the previous Windows version so they don't work on 11 I am tempted to go into the registry and change the values but not sure if It's going to make it worse.

If you are feeling brave (and ideally have another keyboard and mouse to plug in).

"I've managed to fix it!
I went to safe mode, but this time uninstalled ALL (~20) devices under "HID compilant devices" not just devices under keyboards. This is not a very good idea since your input devices like mice etc. will stop working eventually so I had plug in different ones when they did, but after I rebooted (you might be forced to do a hard shutdown) the drivers reinstalled automatically and the keyboard finally WORKS!
Note: Only do this if you ran out of options as it is possible Windows will NOT reinstall the drivers automatically after reboot and you will be left with an OS that can't be controlled! It's still fixable, don't worry, but probably only with an OS reinstall."

Gave up on it and wiped the SSD and reloaded Windows 10 pro and it all running a fair bit faster than before the upgrade and it's got a working keyboard bonus!

I have been having issues with my laptop after windows updates,
Very sluggish, Freezing and difficult to shutdown,
The fix for me was to power down by holding the power button, I was always led to think that this method was not good for the HDD,
Computer tech says it does no harm if it is the only way to shut down the PC
Anyway when i restarted the laptop it went through an automatic repair and also windows removed some previous updates,
There has been some updates causing issues in Windows 11, Microsoft are saying they don't know how to remedy the fault so they auto remove it from your PC after a forced shutdown.
Laptop running fine now.

I,m sticking with windows 10 ,Microsoft should learn ,if it ain,t broke ,don,t fix it!!

You probably already know…but…. Win 10 and Win 10 Pro are now end of support so no more security updates etc….not a problem if you don’t use it to access the internet but if you do be very careful as there a a load of dodgy people out there waiting to rip you off if they get the chance.

There is apparently a way to get another years worth of updates, but not tried it myself
