Been after a Diana side lever for some time and considering a new 48 if nothing comes up on the second hand market. Thing is, all the dealers seem to be out of stock and one that I did speak to said there was some politics involved and they are waiting to see if Diana ship any more out. Can anyone throw any light on the matter? Thanks

A shame if they discontinue the 48/52 series but maybe they just don't sell much anymore. they are a big heavy gun that's for sure but it has its place. Had two of the Chinese clones (Supermax and the xs B30) but did sell both as I found them kind of cumbersome to shoot.

Post from over on Airgun Nation from back in 2024:

Just keep an eye out daily on the usual sites, I wouldn't pay over £300 for one even if it was mint.
Worth a punt and the transfer money ifbits too far away.

It could be due to them being bought by GSG . They were making some of them in Bulgaria among other countries so they may be downsizing production and just going with them being built elsewhere for them. We will see when other models start getting discontinued.

The Holding company that owns GSG also owns Sig and the Sig ASP got dropped .

Here is the reason apparently
Decided to call Sig and get the scoop on the ASP20. A couple reasons why they are discontinuing ONLY the ASP20. First one is centered on profit margin. They aren't getting the returns for this model based on the amount of investment they have in it. The second reason is on par with what I mentioned to AGN member Glenroiland in a PM. The machinery they use to make firearms is the same equipment they used to make the ASP20. They want to retool the machinery used to make the ASP20 so it can go back to firearm manufacturing. The 5 year warranty will still be honored as long as they maintain parts. Which tells me they aren't going to continue producing parts. Kind of sucks ! Ten, fifteen, twenty years from now if your ASP20 breaks down it might be nothing more than a conversation piece. And no, they still aren't going to offer parts to the public.

Diana airguns are now made in the GSG factory so it could easily happen there also.

Cheers, I’ve been stalking gunstar for a while. Not a big seller I fear so few ever come for sale.

Thanks for the info, guess it’s a waiting game now but I hope they’re made in Germany otherwise I’ll be looking out for an older model.
