Hi

I’m looking to purchase an IR torch to be used with my Alpex 4K and hopefully the new DNT 4K tube scope (awaiting release)

Im wanting something as compact & lightweight as possible BUT obviously that give a good illumination.

Main use Airgun hunting up to 70/80 metres

Anyone can help ? @RussDouglas222 can you suggest any please that won’t brake the bank ?

What IR are you using ? Can you clearly over 40 yards for spotting ?
the Alpex 4K lite scope is pretty good at night even without the IR , the IR Torch picks out the eye reflection really well. To be fair I have not shot anything that far out at night yet only at twenty yards.

You can focus the torch in to a tighter brighter field 🙌

Hi there, my current favourite IR illuminator is the Wraith V3 ESL from top chap Andy at Ludicrous Lumens.

It's very slim/light, comes as always with a silent rear power dial and discreet LED power indicator, available in 850nm or 940nm, with an adjustable Pic' mount or two-piece figure-8 scope tube clamp.
It's totally adjustable (beam size / strength / direction), but although amazing value for money with all these features, it's not a budget torch -as it does everything I need in one unit.

It both adjusts wide enough to fill the FOV of the DNT ZT4K prototype at base mag' (8.8°, slightly wider than even the Zulus ZHD312R), yet also tightly enough to illuminate a portion of a hilltop tree at 840m on high power -way beyond my current needs.

Hope this helps, cheers. Russ

Hello, If your after the top end I/R torch would be as above recommended by Russ, If you want a more budget type I/R torch i use 2 from Night Fox, 1 X 850 1 X 940, If i want extra distance i use the 850 with my added Lens , If just for short range ratting the 940 is perfect , I use both these on my MK 1 Photon , I cannot comment on other Night Vision Scopes

Thanks Russ m, I had seen and read about it and everyone speaks very well about them, however with me been an adopted 😁 Yorkshire man I cannot currently justify spending that sort of money on an IR.

Do you have anything else you could recommend at around £50/65 ish budget?

Cheers 😊

All you will need at Airgun ranges while retaining a nice clean image
Had one which I gifted to friend few months ago. Found it a bit to big/bulky for my set up 😅

@Ratman72 Is the added lens glass, does it add extra weight?
I ask because I've tested and reviewed IR torches with both plastic and glass magnifying lenses, the latter can add noticable weight.
Cheers. Russ
Hello Russ , It is the 37mm 2 X Neewer magnification lens that i just tape on the front of torch, It fits on my old 850 T 38 I/R Torch, Very little extra weight
