Information on a 1955 Webley Senior

I believe mine is a 1956 model and it has both barrels.

I have never taken a Webley air pistol apart.....is it difficult or require special tools?
I have a 1955 Senior. And what would a normal reseal cost?

Easy to get apart but how are you dating them so precisely ? I always dated mine as between two dates ,Webley senior marked Birmingham 4 iirc as the post code was missing after the factory move . If there is another way to date I would be interested in finding a more accurate date for mine 😊.

No special tools are required as such. You can find instruction videos on YouTube relating to disassembly of the Webley pistols. Take note of the warning on the back of the pistol and don’t try to remove the rear body end plug. These strip from the front ONLY.

The Senior doesn’t have a piston washer, but a phosphor bronze ring. Consequently you don’t lube that with a light oil, but 30W motor oil. If the spring is wonky then you may need to change that, but the only other thing is the breech seal. Original Senior ones are leather, with a central brass tube, but modern black rubber ones for the Tempest etc are also suitable (and easier to fit) - though you may need to use some sandpaper to reduce the thickness of the seal a little (only sand the back, so you keep the radius on the front). Spares are available from the usual suspects, so Protek Supplies, Bagnall & Kirkwood, TW Chambers, airgunspares etc.

It should be a 5 minute job…

Thanks oldasdirt,

Wonky does describe my Webley Senior quite well,
especially compared to the Beeman P1 I just got!
But I still like the compact feel of the Webley Senior.
Yes I bet . I have the gammon compact ,hw40 and p17 ,love them all .I am after a decent PCP pistol though but can't make my mind up .Well I could but it would cost a few thousand 🙈🙈 So around 5 or 6 hundred pounds mark .Dollar wise that around 650 to 759 dollars given or take ? Think I will ask the forum what they think .

Yes, the Webley Senior air pistol, introduced in 1922, was originally available in both .177 and .22 calibers..

However, finding these barrels today can be challenging.

I like my Webley Senior with Andy's wrap-around grip because of how it feels in my hand, not because of how it performs!
