I love Christmas (big kid) and I realise that likely puts me in the minority with you grinches out there 🫣. Not sure how many sensible responses I’ll get with you lot 🤣 but here goes anyway….

Found over the years it’s the little thoughtful gifts that seem to light up mrs aa’s eyes at Chrimbo. Stumbled on this one 5 years ago, it never fails so thought I’d share in case anyone looking for some ideas.

Each year I’ll buy a couple of tree baubles that signify something we’ve done together over the year, leads to an eclectic looking tree 🌲. Never fails to elecit awwwww do you remember moments each time the decorations box comes out.

This year it’s a puffin and a highland cow, previous have included a baby seal, hot air balloon, sailing ship, santa cable car, tandem etc etc. Inexpensive and thoughtful wins the day 🤗

Any other ideas peeps do, I can “borrow”?

being together so many years my husband and I we choose up to a given amount for xmas , that way we know its what we want /need , we tend to buy small gifts through out the year , just because for each other , If I see something while out shopping and have heard my husband say about it I just treat him , as he does me . .....it's not the amount with me , I have had family gifts where a cheap item as been better , as something I would use rather than something for show .....

My wife and I dont buy xmas or birthday presents for each other. We may buy a small surprise gift occasionally. Instead we buy stuff through out the year either as a surprise or just pay for something the other is looking at.

Bah humbug...Just an invented thing to get your money, sell you any old rubbish and or ,sell you stuff they can't shift over the year.
If I see something I want to buy for my wife, I buy it, regardless of when or the occasion....and so does she.
If we can't afford it...tough: Will wait till we can...or forget about it.

one year, my wife and I had been interested in Jack the Ripper. We read a couple of books and watched a documentary or two.

On Christmas Day, her first present made the dog go mental, which was a surprise. It was a human forearm, chopped off and gruesome, from the joke shop. It looked real. Mother in law’s face was a picture.

Next was a letter, which looked like it was written in blood on parchment, from Jack. I used language from the canonical sources to invite her on a journey.

Finally, a box to open. Inside was a meat cleaver with £200 underneath.

It was a brilliant trip, which we’ll never forget.

After SWMBO put up the decs last year, she was complaining about not having a log fire, so I set light to the Christmas tree

We don't buy just because , like you do it all year round , better idea ....I think thats why we don't know what to have at xmas . as get it when needed .
