Late night pondering... Currently have a HW99s (galling issue atm) with an LSD designs sleeved threaded barrel for context. I can't help but want to replace it with one of the above mentioned. Am i missing out on anything? I know the LGV is rare these days but people rave about them, the 95 I've always thought looked great and the 98 has the stock adjustments which seem very useful. Also, I'm left handed for reference and i can't justify 1k+ for a ProSport though I think they look the best of the bunch🤣.

Picture of said HW99s and a lovely mk4 Airsporter I've recently picked up and serviced😁.

The 95k has a sperate cocking shoe, different design to the 99, which alleviates galling issue.

95k lighter than 98 and I think the lgv, which is a fine rifle.

95k or 85 in .177 is only HW springer I would buy again, a very fine rifle.

Lgv is a superb rifle,(regret selling mine)if you can find one,I've recently bought a 95 in .22 and it really shoots sweetly. As I've got older I've found that lighter is better!

Good shout! I did wonder about the difference in design glad that sorts the galling out as it seems a common flaw after doing some research.

The 95 with an adjustable stock is also an option now, i've even seen one with open sights, but what you really need is an 80...
I never realised they did a 95 in that format! that seems a good balance of the two. Would love an 80 but they seem to only be right handed stocks which I've learned I struggle to get on with.

If I can find one being the hard part🤣. I think the 95 may be the option to go for in the current market! Lighter is most certainty better for lugging around no doubt you're not wrong.

It's a 95s

Had a 95 a while ago that was galling, not enough bend on the cocking arm, cocking arm was cutting a groove in the breech block.
Out of the stock the arm was flat to the breech, couldn't get a rizla paper under it.
New cocking arm sorted the problem,
Don't think it's a common fault though, probably a batch of duff cocking arms!

I had one of those, too; the cocking arm was just touching the breech block and preventing full lock-up. It was a .177 bought new in 2024. I ground/filed the top face of the arm down and cold blued it, it was fine after that.

I'm left handed, & never had an issue with standard 80 stocks, though the new one is ambi, however having said that both 80's have cs500 stocks on them now

Interesting🤔 seems it's not just the 99s that have some issues then thanks for saying!

I've seen the newer versions have the ambidextrous stocks but I'm not a fan of the design at the front where it tapers out, personal preference though.

LGV is heavy (similar to an HW80) but is superb. It would take a lot to get me to part with mine

I was very lucky. Got mine in an auction, brand new boxed for £300 including fees. Probably one of my better buys 😂
Not jealous at all...🤣. Can you recommend some good auctions to look out for? I've never delved into that side of it before.
