Hw45 what calibre?

Apologies for hijacking the thread but where is the best place to buy a .22 barrel? I've a HW45 in .177 and all this talk has got me curious...

Thanks for the feedback very helpful, so as suspected most use 22.
Maybe not. Looking at the Weihrauch database it would appear the .177’s sell twice as many as those in .22.
Then it is worth considering the cost of .22 pellets against .177.
Why not start with .177 and at some stage consider buying a .22 barrel, as for .20 the costs and availability might put you off.
Finally, the number of times I’ve heard of people buying them and giving up quickly tends to make trying one out first a good idea.

What tuning kits do people use or is it ok out the box?

It's very lively out of the box. They're massively over sprung & the piston seal isn't efficient in the slightest, it's just a solid lump of plastic.

I fitted a TbT kit & an Aussie red piston seal, I managed to take 2 or 3 coils off the spring and still keep the same power. Accuracy improved, recoil & cocking effort were noticeably lowered.

Knibbs, and Bagnall & Kirkwood both stock barrels but they'll need an RFD transfer unless you're within driving distance. Most RFDs should be willing to order you one in.

Or there is the excellent Wanted facility on here. It worked for me as did the Swap section.

I have two hw45s
.177 blackstar - quite a snappy pistol, which you should shoot free hand best with a light hold with elbow resting on stable surface

.22 standard- all as above with but softer to shoot, I once split a tin can in two after approx 250 pellets at 20m

If you get one break in with two tins of pellets before deciding about accuracy, use light pellets and these pistols have to be mastered, there is the option on using half power to get used to it - but worth it good

I have both .22 and .177 I feel the .22 does not seem as harsh on recoil as the .177, just my opinion, but either calibre they will be great to shoot once you get the knack of not holding it tight
Holding tight i always thought not to tight?

A 45 is .25 caliber would sell in bucketloads I think

Ultimate 6ft lb air pistol surely

I know there are PCP's and maybe even C02 guns doing the full 6 ft/lb but a 45 in .25 would be the pick of the bunch surely

A whole generation of grown men would suddenly go back to blasting tin cans!
I agree someone must of made 25 barrel in the past?

Great tips there cheers

Thanks for that do you have a link for the red piston seal please?

Got the Blackstar in .22 (lovin' it) but then ALL my guns are .22 ! Oh, except for a couple of vintage Webley pistols.
i am a bit tempted swop my .22 barrel onto my .177 blackstar

I have silverstar in .177, it’s a lovely thing, but I find it hard to shoot and I struggle with it compared to a rifle, but it’s good fun and certainly a challenge. I bought my wife a blackstar, also in .177

I’d like to try one in .22 to see how they compare.

Anybody here use the 20 barrel with any success? could be a good in between calibre.

look at the HW45 as a platform not a pistol per say
a platform is something you can change and the HW45 can be changed, as in caliber
buy the .177 and buy yourself the .20 and .22 barrels, your only problem you have is getting the screws out to change the barrels
and if you do get the screws out replace them with 12.9 hardness SAM_0351.JPGSAM_0352.JPG
