I’ve an AA 500 with the usual T Bar female connector, I actually love this method of connection.

My bottle is down to around 190 bar, it fills my wife’s Walther Reign fine, however, it won’t work on my 500.

What I think the issue is: There doesn’t seem adequate pressure to expand the O rings quick enough when the connector is in place, air just blows back from the connector.

I put another bottle on that I know is over 200 bar and it fills fine. The connector doesn’t feel quite as tight on the T Bar as it did on day one, but we’re talking 3 months old.

I’m reluctant to buy a new adapter, I’m assuming the T Bar can’t be adjusted to make a slightly snugger fit

As above I swapped out for the foster fitting on mine, actually change all my AA's to it.

If however you want to keep the t style maybe new o rings are in order on it.

If the gun pressure is under 190 is strange it won't fill.

It’s not so much that the gun won’t fill, more the t-bar and it’s connector won’t make a seal.
Looks straight forward enough, I might give this a try, cheaper to swap than buy a new T-Bar connector. Thank you both 👍

Do you use any kind of lubricant around the replacement valve or the O ring that is on it and do you tighten with a torque

They are easy to swap, just a light touch of silicone grease on the o rings and I only nip them up with a spanner no torq the o ring does the seal just make sure it doesn't get pinched.

I would try replacing the o rings on your t valve first though, especially since you said you like the system (personally I do not) o rings will be the cheapest option to try first.

If there's 190 bar in the cylinder, it should charge. I only ever filled my HFT500 to 180 bar anyway

As above, I'd suspect the fill connector on the rifle, and start by changing the O rings on the outside and make sure you apply a smear of silicone lube when you fit the O rings

Is there a “go to” silicone lube I should be getting, I’ve seen molykote 111 suggested, it says it’s a grease, any difference with silicone oil and silicone grease or just how they word it

Just silicone grease they are all pretty much the same a small pot will last a long time. Their are ones that say specially 'gun silicone grease' I think this is just to charge more haha.

You really only put a light coating on an o ring.

Molykote 111 is a silicone grease. The branding makes it sound like it's molybdenum based but it's not.

Otherwise, Abbey do one if you want to stick with shooting brands

Any brand will do, but best get it from a gun shop in my opinion. Abbey, Bisley etc

Grease is what you need, not oil.
Grease is thick and a light smear is all you need
Oil is runny and not what you want

Grease and oil are different consistency, think vegetable oil and vegetable spread.

I use this grease and this oil.

Try a new O ring?
I’m going to thank you, I’ve just found which size they are from the AA website, more in postage than the rings actually cost.

The more I look at the best fittings alternative, the more I’m starting to like it. I need to start stocking up on some basic maintenance products so I’ll look at the links too 👍

I would check out guys on here first @ped And @Brit Seals for example alot of good suppliers already on the forum for consumables.

What size are they?

O rings are as cheap as chips. If you tell us the size someone might have a couple spare they cold send you or try sealsupplies on ebay

Pretty sure AA o ring sizes are listed in a sticky post in the technical section, by Blackmax

Air Arms part number S474 having a problem finding what the actual size of it is, I will look at the links mentioned thank you

ebay link (British despite the US)

I did find them on eBay thank you, I just begrudge paying £4.60 postage, I have messaged a couple of users on here as I would rather give them my business, it they haven't got them I will get the official ones from ebay

Appreciate you taking the time to look though (y)

No worries, was just the first link on google. Agreed the postage is stupid for something that could fit in an envelope though
