Here's a question to the people who camouflage there guns do you change the camouflage to match the seasons ? I do green to yellows and browns

Never bothered camo-ing a rifle, most animals see in black and white anyway. I just wear neutral colours. Main thing that gives you away is noise and movement. Ruining your gun by spraying it brown doesn’t make you a ninja.

Depends what you are hunting, presumably?
(My targets have no vision at all being sheets of paper.)

Deer - for example - have very poor colour vision

Which is why they do not react to the the orange colour of Tigers - or presumably USA deer hunters

Yeah, given some of the people out hunting around here, I'd wear as much Blaze Orange as I could if I went hunting these days. Not that people are any dumber now than they were then, but they used to make kids take a hunter safety class. "Don't shoot what you can't see, don't point that gun at people, be aware of your background," stuff like that. Here in the States they don't do that anymore.

A coworker had a story of a guy taking his deer to a checking station. It turned out he had actually shot someone's goat.

When did they give up/ not require a H.S. course to get your 1st license ?... Been 50 odd years, since I took mine, courtesy of the local Jaycees Club... But ?

I grew up in West ByGod, and there was never such a requirement there AFAICT. Been 50 years for me too. One day they walked us into the gym and spent the afternoon going over hunter safety. We got one of these (lost mine ages ago).

Here, on the left coast ( Cal ) unless you've had/ held a license in another state, first time liscensees are required to take/ pass a HS course, ( still) though I guess these days it can be done online 🙄😯.

Camo should match your surroundings thats you and your rifle . mixed camo works well to . say autumn . the grass is green and dark mud is brown . so DPM botton . bushes are fairly open with still a few leafs on so you can see light patches through them . so MTP smock .
this combination works really well along hedgerows .

These days its not just the animals you need to hide from it seems .
even if your legally alowwed to be there . Joe public will be quite forward in having you jumped on by plod .

What isnt seen carnt be whinged about .

In this day and age the man with the gun is automatically bad .

There's no need to be paranoid about camouflage. . The creatures we hunt are more "tuned in" to movement.
If they see an unusual movement, they will run.
They will also smell your presence if they are downwind.
And those huge feet on bunnies will detect vibration, so stealth is important too.

No camo for me, as long as the rifle isn’t too glossy to get any reflections from in the sunlight.
Don’t wear came too, just dark colours..👍

Remember reading an article a few years back when they were comparing pigeon hides in stubble fields. They made a hide out of hi-vis orange barrier fencing and netting. Pigeons were coming in just as much as a camo or natural hide.
As said noise and movement is the biggest reason for spooking prey.
