I have never sold anything on either of these sales platforms, I know the former has had some bad publicity but I'm wondering which is the best one to try if my item doesn't sell on here 🤔.
I've heard reports of being bombarded with sales calls etc!.

I find Guntrader busier, and have sold a few guns on there successfully now, the only contact I got was from interested parties. It's cheap, and seems to work at the moment. You have to be very careful to list your item correctly in the first place as you can't amend some fields once the ad is placed and customer service is non-existent, but the site does seem to have improved this year.

Have sold on both and from a usage perspective they're much the same.

GT gets more traffic than G* so more peolple will see an advert there, however it depends if you want to support a company with shady business practices.

Obviously scammers are everywhere so buyer/seller beware as usual.
Face to face deal recommended, if must post obtain cleared funds for full amount.
Personally from a selling POV they're the same in this respect, though GT seems to attract more scam sellers.

I recommend wherever possible to not give either company any of your personal details, or if forced to provide personal info fake information. Both companies appear to be run on a shoestring with little effort expended on important things like data security and I dont trust either with PII.

TBH if you can I'd avoid them unless no other option.

I've used guntrader its cheaper and a lot more traffic on the site and the website is easier to use you will have more interest on Guntrader. One love ❤️ Ali

I’ve found both to be not great for buying, I guess that’s a good thing for sellers

I’m surprised yours hasn’t sold on here as it looks a decent price. Every used item loses 20% value the second you’ve parted with your cash as that’s the VAT gone but you’re still asking below that.

It amazes me how so many people bump a classified that’s clearly over priced or they’ve not done their homework and they bump half a dozen times not budging.

The old adage it’s only worth what someone’s wiling to pay springs to mind.

Again though, not aimed at you, if I was in the market for one of what you’re selling I’d be on it. Good luck with whichever platform you decide, is there a selling/listing fee on either

I’ve only ever used GT once and that was to buy, thankfully is was a smooth transaction and l got away without any trouble.

Luckily I’ve always been able to sell on the forum but if not of the two it would be GT.

... yes guntrader does seem to shift things quickly as when I've looked before & enquired lots of stuff has already been sold!.
I think our forum is a fantastic place for certain sales but older cheaper stuff seems to shift quicker.
I think generally people are keeping an eye on finances with Xmas on the doorstep.

Guntrader is the busier platform but after a very bad experience with a thug turning up to try and buy an FAC rifle off me without a ticket I would not use either…

Personally I would rather just take a hit on price or trade at a dealer than sell on either… Here is considerably safer in my opinion..

I looked at both when I couldn't shift a month-old 'you'll have no problems selling that' rifle and again when I was looking to buy an "averages £500-600) HW100. Search-wise, GT is awful and both sites seemed ridiculously overpriced even for models 15-20 years old. That kinda helped me with regards to selling mine and it went within a week at the asking price; that was on Gunstar.

Bought off both without issue. Gunstar seems more likely to throw up a bargain due to less traffic.

Sold via GT with no problems when guns have sold here and got more than advertised price on here. Be sensible and you'll be fine. You'll have the odd time waster who doesn't check location before cantacting you, but easy to spot genuine interest

Read this and then assess if your morals will allow you to use Guntrader!

In response to the data breach, Guntrader acknowledged the incident and replaced the old company with a new one, Guntrader Media Ltd.

just how should a company react to a deliberate hack, this oft repeated/posted thing about gtrader seems to make them out as villains when in reality they were the victim of an organised criminal act, many companies and institutions have been victims of these cyber blackmailers, sainsbury, nhs and now land rover to name but a few,
Gtrader have always been fine when i have used them, gstar seems a bit shaky.

I've only used Gunstar and very quickly sold stuff, but I do tend to sell things either reasonably priced or cheap to see them gone. Pricing is a major factor for getting rid of guns.

I've been around the block a couple of times chris & been in business a very long time so to a degree pricing competivley is key... but I'm certainly not having a fire sale on a rifle that's only just over 9 months old with extras & over £450 saving on buying new!...yes there's the vat element but hey ho 😘.
I love a bargain as much as the next man but I'd rather Keep it than give it away.
So strange that I had to wait to have it bloody made last year when I ordered it!!.

I've bought on both, I would recommend always doing the deal face to face and testing over a chrono even if buying from a dealer. Most if not all the issues I've heard of have been postage related. One of the guns I bought from a dealer was over a lb hot. I only sell on here though and happy to contribute a bit to the forum for the pleasure, a trusted community is invaluable.
