I'm lucky to have a lot of shooting permission, around 500 acres over 2 farms. I've shot the majority of this, for nearly 15 years, with rabbit being the main quarry
It's generally that fruitful, that I haven't needed to explore further permissions.
But RHD swept through my perms a couple of years ago and they've still not fully recovered, so I've been keeping an eye out recently for more permission
Today the stars aligned. I just happened to be out with a few farmers and landowners, and offered a lovely lady a piece of fruit cake, that I had in the car. We got chatting and she asked where I lived, which led on to her saying she grew up in a house (a big one with a lot of land, where I did have permission to shoot under a new owner).
Now she moved many years ago, to her new place. Another large house with many acres of land, which came into the conversation. I know the land and also know it's awash with rabbits. I asked about the rabbits and she said they'd become a real problem
You can guess the rest.
First dry day, I'll be giving her a ring to go up and be shown round
