Took my recently acquired HW75 to the range this morning, and while tweaking the rear sight, I caught it in the glare of the fluorescent light and was shocked to see this:

The paint is wearing off! WTF!? 🤬

This is only about two years old, it really should not be showing this sort of deterioration in such a short time.

There are at least three owners before me, so no point in trying to claim against Weihrauch, but I am going to email them anyway to let them know that they have a quality problem.

I'd be interested to know if you believe it's aluminum or steel (magnetic), and if the finish is anodizing, paint, or some other finish process.

I do wonder if that surface damage is the result of a cleaning product(s) or some other contamination during use.

I have 6 HW45s in various colours and a HW75 and none of them show anything similar.

I have only ever wiped mine over with a regular gun cleaning type of cloth, such as the Abbey product, and the same with my other guns.

However, it does seem the the OP’s gun has suffered some unusual damage for some reason.

Not good and a real shame

I just happen to have my recently bought (used) 75 to hand and just had a look at it.

What is very obvious, is that the finish on mine is far smoother. Wonder if they changed the finish at some point

What serial number is yours?

Can't really see how the finish could have worn from use, unless maybe a gloved had has been used, but even then you can open and close the top lever, without even touching the main frame.

As you say it has atleast 3 owners before you then anything could of happened to it to be fair,if you had it from new and it happened island you know it was just down to poor paint etc then I'd understand the annoyance

I know mines had plenty of use and shows no wear

As I was using it, I observed where I was touching it to open and close. With lifting it is obvious where the contact area is, as I am right handed, when closing I push the top down with my left hand, and to stop it slamming, I grab the frame with my finger tips to control the last bit of travel.
Maybe I have got excessively abrasive fingers, or very acidic sweat!

Don't have a 75 but do have a couple of other SSPs and I don't seem to touch that part of the gun to cock it so can't see it being wear.

You're right to be a little peed off but always the downside of not owning from new, you never know how the thing's been treated.

Having said that, buying from "new" is no guarantee it hasn't been messed with

Just checked mine again and noted how I close mine.
I tend to use a flat palm on the cocking arm, but do control the lock up as you say, but only use my finger tips, locating them under the frame lip.

I think if mine started to wear, I'd probably get it cerakoted. Ceramic coating has very high wear resistance

Err, I think it is me that is the @rse.

Had chance to get a closer look at the damage, and it occurred to me that close up with a magnifying glass, the marks looked remarkably like swarf.

Then I remembered that I had been filing some aluminium the previous day.

Yup, I am an @rse...

Took two minutes to remove the bits from the gun with a pencil eraser.

Ah well, at least you got it sorted and it was an easy fix, Lol, no-one likes their guns going manky...

Indeed! I am very relieved to find out that I am the fool but the gun is fine. Fixing the gun would be far more difficult than learning a lesson about cross contamination.. 😅
