Forum Rules

Usernames

Do not make any username that has a swear word, is racist or would be considered rude and offensive. You will be automatically banned if you do this.

Multiple Accounts

You may not make multiple accounts; if you do all your accounts may be banned.

Behaviour

Do not make inappropriate or offensive posts - including threats, harassment, swearing, prejudice, defamation, deliberate insults or name-calling, other negative remarks about this forum, its moderators and administrators or your fellow members. Even if this is just your own personal opinion, RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS.

Posting

Do not post the same topic in multiple forums.

If you are unsure of which forum a thread should go under, just state that in your post and a moderator will move the thread to the correct forum.

Multiple posts are unnecessary and will be deleted.

Do not post anything relating to the power adjustment of air rifles or pistols on any open forum.

Do not promote forgeries or fake items deemed counterfeit.

Do not post unsolicited self-promoting sales / advertising material for products or services on the forum without prior moderator consent. Ads for individual items for sale should be put in the appropriate sales section.

Politics/Religion.

Posts about these subjects are not allowed, and we ask that you remain amicable and considerate in your discussions. It is at the moderator's discretion whether a post is deemed too contentious. At this point it will be removed.

COVID still remains a BANNED topic due to the volatile nature that threads end up. Any covid related content will be removed.

Remember - posts are on a public forum for the world to see. You represent our sport so please express your opinions carefully.

Stay On Topic

Topics and discussions shall be placed in the most appropriate forum and shall be relevant to the purpose of this forum. Threads started in the wrong forum will be moved (with or without notice) and off-topic threads or otherwise useless threads will be deleted or moved.

Posts in the Airgun section must remain on topic, any off-topic post will be removed without warning.

General Forums (including sales forum)

In particular, the General Chit Chat & Get It Off Your Chest sub-forums.

Use of these sections should not exceed the primary use of this forum, i.e the hobby of shooting. If the majority of your messages and threads are in these sections you will be noticed by the moderation team and run the risk of being banned.

The largest % of moderation duties are spent dealing with the minority who use these sections exclusively, with little to no contributions to the wider community.

Donations to Private Individuals

Do not post requests soliciting / promoting donations of goods or money to private individuals, be they directed towards the thread starter, another forum member or any other third party.

Mobile SMS Type Text

Do not type your posts in text speak; please use English words we can all understand.

Quoting Images/Videos

When quoting a post with images or videos edit them out of your quote.

Quoting Long Posts

Quoting a whole guide or extremely long posts in your post and then commenting on it is just pointless and a waste of space. If there is a certain part of the quote you would like to refer to while commenting, quote the original and delete the parts that are not important or that you are not referring to.

Short Posts

Try to avoid one or two word posts.

Do not post the same question multiple times in multiple threads in the same forum. If no one responds to your question or request, just post a reply to the same message thread again to bring the message to the top of the list so that other forum users notice it.

Even though this is an international forum, please make sure that your posts are written in English.

Hunting chat & Graphic Vermin Kill Images

No discussion or pictures of dead animals on the open forum, so those who don't wish to see them won't have to while reading general airgun topics. Please keep to the hunting section.

Sales/Swap Rules

Sales Section access

In order to access the sales section you need to be an active member of the forum. Your post count will need to exceed 50 at the very least, then it is at the discretion of the moderators if access is given. The 50 posts need to be meaningful and involved not just any spam.

Spamming threads to gain access may result in your account being banned.

If your use of this forum is primarily in the sales section then it is highly likely access will be removed.

Buying items to sell for a profit (flipping) is not in the spirit of this forum and will at the very least see your sales access removed, if not a complete ban from the forum.

All sales section bans are permanent and you will not regain access at a later date.

Sales Approval

New sales/swap threads will not show publicly until they have been approved by a member of staff. Before this happens you must:

Include in at least one photo of the item for sale/swap along with a note laid next to the item (not the box) that clearly shows your forum username and the date, DD/MM/YY (same date as the advert).

Failure to do the above means your advert will not be approved.

'At buyer's risk' is not accepted within a sales post. By law, the seller is responsible for packages sent. It is only a seller who can make a claim for lost or damaged items.
If you are not prepared to take responsibility for a parcel, do not offer postage.

Please note any sales we recommend that buyer and sellers exchange details between themselves in private messages as we do not hold these details.

Listings

Do not list items for sale on behalf of other people; you must own the item that is for sale.

Replies

1. Do not post replies in a Sales Post by saying something that may decrease the probability of a sale/swap.

2. Do not post replies unless you’re interested in buying the item. If you wish to point out a problem to the seller, do so by PM.

3. Sales are to be agreed on the forum not in conversations.

A polite reminder, that the ‘Wanted’ section is part of the ‘Sales’ & ‘Swaps’ section of the forum, with the same rules applying on unnecessary comments.

We understand that many members wish to offer advice and suggestions to help the OP.
Please keep this to private messages, so as to keep the thread clear for those wishing to transact.

This note is at the top of every sales section:

DO NOT COMMENT ON SALES IF YOU HAVE ZERO INTEREST IN BUYING! DO NOT COMMENT ON WANTED IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ITEM ASKED FOR. COMMENTS NOT RELATED TO A SALE WILL RESULT IN A 2 WEEK BAN!

Buyers

First to say they will have it in the For Sale thread gets the item at the advertised or agreed price.

Price

You must state a price when selling an item, but you can put ‘open to offers’ with a starting price if you wish.

Updating

1. You must check/update your thread every 24 hours. If it's still for sale please keep other members informed by adding a post to your thread. Once sold; make a post stating that your item is now sold then admin will update your thread and move it to the Sales Graveyard.

2. Do not bump more than once in 24 hours.

Every time an advertisement is bumped to the top of the list by the seller all other advertisements drops down the page.

A seller who bumps an advertisement more than once in 24 hours will find that it disappears, continued aggressive bumps could result in restricted forum access.

3. If you click on ‘Watch Thread’ this will alert you of any posts in your thread.

Deleting or Editing Threads

Never delete or edit anything out of a For Sale advert - just post an update in your thread with the reason. If it does not sell in the time scale you wanted you can put ‘no longer for sale’ or ‘withdrawn from sale’ as a new post.

Realistic Imitation Firearms

A realistic imitation firearm means an imitation firearm which (a) has an appearance that is so realistic as to make it indistinguishable for all practical purposes from a real firearm and (b) is neither a de-activated firearm nor itself an antique.

Sales of RIFs

RIFs: e.g airsoft guns, blank firing pistols and paintball markers/T4E are permitted to be sold on AirgunForums, however YOU as the seller are responsible for ensuring the buyer has a valid defence to purchase such items as outlined in the VCRA act.

More information on the VCRA can be found HERE

FAC Rated Items

1. All FAC rated items must be clearly marked as such in the advert and must only be available to FAC licence holders.

2. All sales must be 'Face-to-Face' or via a RFD.

3. Any FAC item offered without following these rules will result in a ban and/or being reported to your local Police if deemed appropriate.

Under 18s

No one under the age of 18 is allowed to buy or sell airguns via this forum; it is your responsibility to ensure that both the buyer and seller are 18 or older.

Animals

Sales/trade/swaps of live animals/reptiles are not allowed on this forum.

Competitions & Raffles

1. Friendly competitions and raffles may be held by members to celebrate post count achievements; i.e. 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 etc. however, these must be free to enter and only airgun related items may be given away.

2. Fees for entry or cash prizes can only take place with the express, written permission of the airgunforums.co.uk site owner or a member of the moderation team. Failure to do this could lead to laws being broken under the UK’s Gambling Commission’s regulations.

Reporting posts

To report a post that you think breaks the forums rules, please do so by clicking on the report text located underneath of any post.

Avatar Rules

No nudity, dead animals or offensive avatars - these will be deleted without warning.

Signature Rules
  • Signature Images should be no larger than 470 pixels wide and 100 pixels high.
  • Image file sizes in signatures should not exceed 100 KB.
  • Make sure your signature is appropriate.
  • No swearing, porn (of any sort however mild), flaming, threats, etc., to be posted in signatures.
  • The forum software will not let you use an oversized signature.
  • No advertising of any other website/s without express permission from the forum's Administrator.
  • No religious or political opinions to be expressed.
Photos and images

Please be aware that photos taken on mobile devices always contain meta or "EXIF" data (Exchangeable Image Format). This data contains information about the device your photo was taken on (for example "Google Pixel 8 Pro), camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc), dimensions, date and time it was taken, including exact location the photo was taken.

Normally, if the image has been edited in your phone or in other software/apps (or screenshot), this data is automatically removed - but this isn't a guarantee. This means that photos taken in your house, your garden, at work or on your permissions which you upload to the internet (anywhere, not just AGF), may identify your location.

AGF and its moderation team cannot take responsibility for the data you choose to upload yourself onto the forum or elsewhere, so we recommend you do your own due diligence in this regard.

Here are some handy tips you might find useful;

On your mobile - You can turn off location tagging on your mobile phone.

On Android devices (Google, Samsung, anything else which isnt Apple), you can do this by opening the camera app on your device, selecting "settings" (you may need to click "More Settings" on some devices), and unticking the "Save location" option. Done.

On iOS devices (Apple), Go to Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Navigate to Privacy & Security: Scroll down and tap on "Privacy & Security". Access Location Services: Tap on "Location Services". Select Camera: Scroll down and find the "Camera" app and tap on it. Choose "Never": Select "Never" to prevent the Camera app from accessing location services.

On other devices - only very top end cameras (normally with an app linked to your phone) save location data however this too can be turned off. Refer to your camera's user manual.

How to remove data from images already tagged with location data -
On a mobile device you can simply screenshot your image or You can do this manually on PC, but its normally much faster to use a free service like Jimpl or ImageSmaller. You can quickly upload the image, have its data scrubbed and redownload a "cleaned" version.
