Filling my gun and nearly πŸ’© my pants

I never leave my compressor unattended, cheap Chinese one of Amazon, been faultless so far, but one day I reckon it will fail, also I'm consistently checking the pressure on the compressor & rifle ? Call me paranoid maybe πŸ€”
I always leave it unattended but check briefly periodically when filling dive bottle
Especially towards end of fill .
But if it goes I don't want to be in the shed with it . YMMV I'm generally close but don't hover over it . Gives me the heebie jeebies at 301 bars.

That sort of happening can occur if the hose is bent beyond a certain point. If that happens and the hose does burst it is less of trouser soiling event using a compressor rather than a scuba tank. There is less volume, which could cause a serious injury, behind the bang as the contents of the hose are released. The inlet valve on the rifle will instantly shut cutting off that large volume and most compressors dont have a large storage reservoir. Its a different situation when using a scuba tank. In that situation you will need more than bicycle clips on the bottoms of your trousers - you probably wont have any trousers left or legs to go in them  . Safety is all important when dealing with high pressure air. Take care.:)

Hello paranoid 😁

When diving I cracked open a demand valve line that although the tank was off the demand valve still had tank pressure in the line I think, however it pushed a big fat o ring through a gap that basically didn't exist . quite surprising.

Takes about 5 mins on a NP 02 (530 cc) from 100 bar I use 2 filters on each end of the whip & had no problems so far , but moisture is present when the release valve is undone
Surprised it takes so long. 5mins on the hand pump goes a long way but difficult to sit back and have a brew while you do it. And of course I need a shower and a Physio afterwards!

Ooooh bugger😯
That would have made my bum clench as well!!
You tend to become a bit complacent and forget what kind of pressure we are working with and the damage it could do.

Definitely a scary moment.

I had a best fitting red hose outer cover blow up a tiny bit on me years ago.
I rang them and got it replaced and a free gift, top service of best fitting.
Said it was rare but it can happen on the crimp, but at least the main hose was fine just the red outer cover at fault.

I have been looking for a compressor that won't bankrupt me, can you recommend anything ?
I've seen the ones on amazon but didn't trust the build quality

The only charging calamity I have had was pumping the tyres up on a FEPS generator at RAF Honington. I was using a 250 bar nitrogen walk round kit which was like a suitcase size containing a carbon bottle and a dual system regulator one for low range and one for high range charging. I hadn't used this type before but wrongly assumed it was like the outgoing obsolete model. I had the output regulator set to 0-30 bar and the inflator to inflate to 32psi for the jockey wheel tyre. What I hadn't done was isolate the high pressure system and put about 2000 psi into the tyre. The front end of the generator lifted as the tyre expanded way beyond it's capacity and then it exploded. I was with another mechanic and he saw part of the tyre whizz past my head. It was the loudest noise I had heard in many years and we were slightly deafened for the rest of the day. Taught me to look at instructions more instead of assuming.
