Does my ideal HW80K exist in factory form?

I have a 2nd hand new style HW80K in .177 on the way. Look forward to trying it out. Ive never seen an HW80 in the flesh let alone shot one so ive no idea what to expect. Prediction is a less than ideal shot cycle.

I got the feeling not many owners wanted to sell their HW80s! First one available with my modest budget i had to say yes or i doubt it ever get round to owning one.

Ill try to remember to post here when i get it 👍
For what its worth i think you will be pleasantly surprised at just how awful it IS NOT!
Pussycats HW80s if its not been fooled about with with a Winston Milnthorpe Half stroke unobtanium hyper stratosphere piston goliath spring and Mallys sealomatic nitrile GSXR Maxi lube seal . you will be absolutely impressed and remember twangs are character building LOL! . just sayin.

I prefer no twang but it is tolerated on occasion 😁 Britseals and fitted guides have been added to possibly a different spring. Standard stroke/30mm piston and everything else so it should shoot more or less as factory setup 👍

It is what it is at the end of the day, this is what we are faced with in this day and age gone are the days of a nice sweet old HW80 Bought by a old lad from The Old rectory brambly End, Retired Physics teacher two Flat coat retrievers and a nice 1953 alvis TD1 parked on the gravel drive. LOL!
Now we get what we get Ebay screws and varying degrees of Home Kit tuning interference. And that same faffed with hw80 was only bough brand new last Saturday morning a Maurice grimes smooth master kit had been bought three weeks previous . Sad but its springers today. Suprised HW dont do a Budget model minus spring guide and seals . in a box ready stripped, make a right packet they would.

Feel Words and a post here a post there with the odd stupid rantish dig at tuning kit or otherwise is not a true representation of what i truly feel about tuning springers in general.
For what i do and expect from a spring air rifle much of the time the out of the box gun is more or less well adequate as in Fit for Purpose.
If i ever do anything to a factory rifle its out of warranty for sure and falling short of my expectations got a problem or both. Its at this point i will dismantle it clean and polish / de burr etc if it needs it, then look at replacing any less than perfect parts and possibly buying a kit or certainly spring seals and either making up the guides or buying them in.
I Think the trend and it is a trend of stripping and banging in a kit straight off is ill advised personally YOMV.
If you are deviating away from out of the box standard at least look into where and why its failing, too many seem too willing to cast off what HW turn out, and many mope about how HW betrayed the uk favouring the USA Market 25mm Vs 26mm pistons its endless.
Its not my call and do not want it to be either, People own these things they can do exactly what they want with them no one me included as any right to decry what others do accepted.
But when you see the posts where a x spring kit was installed on a new gun and power is halved or a secondary issue has been created by X..
May i politely sagest that knowing what you acctualy had brand new in a box To start with is a handy thing to know and you have something to compare and tuning you add to the gun in due course.
Just sayin.

As with all springers, it's a matter of balanced internals. I got a .177 MK2 K a few months ago with a glided piston and VMach spring/ guide. The piston has been sleeved internally to fit a smaller diameter, quite beefy spring and I resealed it with a Vortek. It's very mild to shoot and doesn't seem at all sluggish. There's certainly no need to short stroke it. I have it ticking over just below 11fpe and it's rapidly becoming my favourite break barrel. Also, it isn't nearly as heavy as I was expecting. I think you'll enjoy it Rob, especially if you fancy a tinker with a smaller spring setup. (y)

I have shot 3 HW80s all were early models, meaning not very recent at least.
I am not a weihrauch knocker have a 95 and 98 but the 80s shot awful, sub 12s. Was heavy and not balanced and had the worst looking beech stocks i have seen.realy dont know why they get owned. Glad there are lovers out there for them

I love mine, its my favourite rifle, but I've had it tuned by Lyn at ARC Tuning so not standard. We had a rat eating our birdseed last week in the garden, despite having a couple of PCPs (Brocock and Daystate) it was the 80K I reached for and it delivered, no messing, no complication, just simple, reliable and built like a tank.

My 80 arrived today 😀 sadly no time to try it properly yet. Shoots ok in my opinion but wont know for sure untill behind trigger and judging it. JSB Exacts and Barracuda 8s 10.6/10.5.. Highest energy from testing so far 11.5 using Econ 2, higher than Hobbys.

Its a big rifle without doubt, feels fine on weight though and with a modest scope, pretty pointable. The new style stock is comfortable, cocking is not hard and lock up if anything feels too strong currently.

Looking forward to some shooting then tweaking 👍

No "perfect" rifle, no matter maker, model, or propulsion system, exists in factory form. There are excellent base designs, of course, but a "perfect rifle" can not be all things to all people... Rifles require a solid foundation & then bespoke work, to be " perfect"...depth of pocket, denotes/ determines level of perfection, Airmasters, Venom, Holland & Holland , Purdey, Boss, or other...

I’m The HW80 version of the Battersea Dogs Home, if it’s unwanted, I’ll take it in
