Does my ideal HW80K exist in factory form?

I’m thinking it’s time for a new gun and I’m deciding between a HW80K or an IMP Mk2.

I have a couple of questions regarding the 80 and I’ve been trawling the forum for a few days but I’ve read so much I’m not sure if I’ve taken it all in right.

I assume this is the two piece cocking lever? When did they change to one piece and are they a direct replacement?

I believe the “Mk2” K barrel is 16 1/2 long, it came with an open sight or a moderator? To confirm there was never an K option with the Mk1 angled stock?

Can the open sight be removed? I read it was on dovetails so a moderator can’t be fitted without modifications?

I would ideally like a good condition, unmolested factory model with a 16 1/2 K barrel with a moderator. If that’s not possible I have to have a think if I want to go for a “collectors” gun or build something to my liking.

Ah I must have misread a thread, but thanks for clarification.

Really it’s down to factory barrels/moderator options.

Had a 99 ,got a 95 and 98. All been tweaked but also used from standard. Shot 77 and 97 also a 80,the 80 felt the worst .heavy and horrid shot cycle.the guy who had it said the FAC he version he held years prior was a complete different animal

The 410mm(16') will need the sight dove tails filed down for a mod to fit,hw never did the 410mm to fit silencers(opens only) or the mk1 with a k barrel they only came on the later mks and now I think its a special order same as the 500mm(19')?As the 'new' 80s are sold with 310mm(12')screw cut barrel unless something changed?
Not necessarily a terrible thing, as it can help quicken up the action/cycle.
The overall consensus for some is the 410mm(16') is the sweet spot for sub12 especially in .177,but a decent setup or tune with a 310mm(12') wont be that far behind and be around the same length (or longer) than a 410mm(16') without a mod

Imho unless your running at 18 on a fac the hw80 std sub 12 shot cycle is terrible the theoben eliminater running at 30 has less recoil and movement
I have several hw80 in name only as they have been converted to ether 25 mm or 26mm pistons
The std heavy 30 mm piston is way to heavy even with lightning
Love the look and weight of the 80 but it's not really a 80 once you have converted it

Don't get me wrong I love my modified hw 80s

I get that, to be honest I would like a nice one as a collectors gun. A 99/Imp is on my wishlist which would be more useable.

Lovely looking rifle that!

It's a personal thing some people love the 80 as it is.
being a engineer I'm stuffed as I know how they can shoot
The imp is all ready tuned to a very good std out the box had a couple but prefer the 80 build and weight
When tuned think the 80 is one of my favorite springers
The 99 imp is a bit jumpy for me but very accurate and if it was my only gun I would learn to love it

Are they really that horrible to shoot with standard internals? I love the look of an old hw80 but never had one, so i just settled with my baby HW80 (HW50k) so i call it 😊.

If you end up with a MK1 or MK2 HW80 with ironsights still fitted, Weihrauch do a16mm push on Moderator that fits without having to remove the foresight. Got some 15mm ones on my HW35's and they are pretty good.

I am not 100% but don't think the wedge mark 1 80 came in the K model.
SFS IMP ??? Never seen one but people seem to like SFS tuned guns could be worth a look by all means.
Look around for a mark one HW80 or even a later osed HW80.
I have been looking 2 years now not found one yet, i might just buy a brand spanker HW80 , i very nearly bought a HW35 new but turned up a nice one exactly what i wanted used.
Give it a bit of a try to find a used one but they are not everywhere like they used to be not at proper money anyway.
I think i am up for a Brand spanker HW80, they are there NOW threaded for mod/striper etc the minelli stock is not terrible dispite the protestations of some about them.

No they are not horrible to shoot , pussycats at under uk legal limit, but they are awesome. They are HW80s how could they be any other. I can feel a quick search on gunstar coming on right now if nothing jumps out at me i recon i am ordering one new tomorrow.

No time like the present 😄. Money is never any good sat in the bank 👌

Agreed its only the principle of the thing not buying new and looking for a nice mark 1, but how much time do you wait searching for one?
HWs are not stupid money they are about bang on where they need to be new, ok if you want a fancy plywood model they are at a bit of a premium but keep it fairly basic they are in essence a bargain.
Now Air arms? They are for Air arms enthusiasts that's what they are for. YOMV

I have a 2nd hand new style HW80K in .177 on the way. Look forward to trying it out. Ive never seen an HW80 in the flesh let alone shot one so ive no idea what to expect. Prediction is a less than ideal shot cycle.

I got the feeling not many owners wanted to sell their HW80s! First one available with my modest budget i had to say yes or i doubt it ever get round to owning one.

Ill try to remember to post here when i get it 👍

The major cock up that some owners do is to over spring them. If yours has a bad shot cycle then this could be the problem, so please post on here if you have along with the spring details and chrono reading.
A good post to read is https://airgunforums.co.uk/threads/piston-weight.75466/ on the subject of springs.
I hope you enjoy your new rifle.. (y)..
