I would of phoned but I was asking at 7.50 pm, good chance they were shut. Did not know I could go till tonight, I did take the time to check opening times AND see any mention of gents. Can not phone prior to leaving because they open at 10.30 I would be leaving way before that. When you get older with waterworks issues you will find journeys are not as enjoyable.

Carry an empty 5 litre plastic fuel container in the car.

Great for us oldies when camping, too.

I was at Bug Jam some years ago, waiting in the queue in the morning for the Portaloos and to empty my "Petrol" container - some guy was pleading with me to sell him my "petrol" as his car had run out, he refused to believe my explanation that it was pee not petrol until I took off the lid and suggested that he sniff it.
To be fair, I told him that he could have it for nothing if he still wanted it afterwards - but he did not take me up on my kind offer!

Plemty of supermarkets or McDonalds etc on the road from Eastbourne to Crawly, surely?
 
@Meangene - I totally understand your concern re the long journey and comfort breaks, I am no spring chicken either (and possibly even older than you 😉 ). Hope you find what you are looking for on all counts.

My old motor factor was similarly afflicted, he told me how he managed to break a bone and end up in plaster after missing the last step on the stairs going down to have a wee in the middle of the night 😳

Worse still, a mate only a few years older than me said similar a few weeks back… apparently I am in for a rough few years 😂

I confess to being slightly disappointed when Lucozade stopped doing the wide top bottles, always used to grab one for long journeys ‘just in case’. Now it seems to be random as to what’s on sale.
