Got to admit I do like the look of this rifle in the above guise 🫣.
It does baffle me though why it's more expensive than the brand new 'black wolf ' which is an all new block etc🤔.

They obviously still have a good following.

Thoughts please.

I guess the electronics have a bearing on price. Also the Redwolf is probably still considered Daystates flagship rifle. Again reflected in pricing.

Thoughts...
Calling Daystate's offering a " safari" stock is a travesty - look at true safari rifles to get a clue what a real safari stock is...
I'll point you to H&H, W.R., Boss, Purdey, et al, & the magazine & double rifles made by the above

I've gathered your not enamored by modern rifles Chris 🫣.

It's more me saying that out of all the 'off the shelf ' stocks on the red wolf the safari stock...in my eyes is the most pleasing &0
Probably the most practical if taken hunting... it's like anything in life, where do you stop spending?.

Not that I'm not enamored, Karl, just that the Daystate " Safari" is the antithesis of a safari stock, which properly, sports a straight or slightly dropped comb line & a very open grip...to call Daystate's offering what they do is idiocy, pure & simple...a bit like painting a Skoda red & calling it a Ferrari.

Obviously take the “safari” name with a pinch of salt I don’t think it’s intended for the African Big 5.
The Redwolf in any stock is a great rifle, if you go for one try and find an immaculate secondhand one, save yourself some money. For what you were looking at, a high shot count, very, very accurate, range rifle, hard to beat.

Hi Martin... I've picked up a Safari stock before & I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but there very grippy which is nice...I'm still looking at Katran or krait aswell🤔...the thing with the red wolf is it would actually be longer in length than my STEYR hunter 5A scout which is not ideal.

The thing about a safari stocks, they were meant to be grippy and strong, that’s what I’d want with a Rhino charging at me. For me personally length doesn’t matter for a range rifle. Also used it for relatively long range rabbits when I had to be quiet around very expensive horses. It will do over 400 shots in .177, filled to only 210 Bar with target rifle accuracy.

I really must ask - why do you feel the need to SHOUT Steyr at every conveinience ?

Why 🧐...I didn't realise you were the gun police !!.

In this case it was to compare the length of the STEYR rifle as I don't want to go any longer in length & the STEYR is a good example to use.
Is that ok with you ☺️.

The thing is Martin...if I did decide on a red wolf & found a good second hand example then the stocks brand new in safari guise are only about £350 English pounds 🤔.
It's not only a large shot count I want for the range but also the possibility of a small hunting gun also... hence krait or katran?

I have two Daystate Redwolfs with a choice of midnight blue/safari/walnut stocks so if i want a new rifle i just change stocks🤣 did have the gp stock but too bloody heavy so sold it also have a pro x scout and Daystate Pulsar.

The Daystate site has a nice selection of stocks. Any of the rifles you’ve mentioned will do the job, it just depends what you like. I would say people change just because they are bored, not because the rifle is no good. So look second hand.

Thanks Martin...I have the STEYR & the Taipan veteran ll... I've no intention of selling these & I'm not bored with them ☺️...I just want something else as well 😉.
